I was with the Navigators in college, so I’m practically right there with you on evangelical protestant influences.

Thing is, nearly ALL American catholics are heavily influenced by protestantism, just by cultural osmosis. The difference with you and I is that we KNOW it! And that can actually be quite a helpful thing in the long run.

A truly outstanding catholic educational series is Didache, by Midwest Theological Forum. (google it) Originally made for high school instruction, but by people who actually RESPECT the intellectual capacity of high school age people. Unless you are a theology PhD you won’t feel “talked down to.”

Welcome! The Catholic Church filled a void in my soul that the Protestantism couldn’t. Chiefly the fact that I felt I needed to be in constant communion and fellowship with other Protestants in order to keep spiritually alive. I found that the the Saints, especially the Blessed Mother were always there to pray with me. Later, I realized the best communion of all in the Eucharist!
