How many of your parishes have Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration?

Our beautiful chapel has been open nearly 4 years - we’ve all received such incredible graces due to the ongoing prayer and adoration of Jeus in the Blessed Sacrament.

My question is: how do other chapels go about recruiting new adorers after the first rush of sign ups?

We advertise a few open hours each week in the bulletin with a lovely quote from scripture or a saint about the Eucharist. We have had annual Sign Up Sunday’s also, and encourage existing adorers to share their experiences with family and friends.

All for the greater glory of God!

Our parish, or rather our “sister” parish is starting 24 hour adoration. I’m excited about having adoration so much closer to my home than it has been when this opens.

I wonder if there is a way to encourage people to sign up for whatever slot of time they feel comfortable with…I wonder if some people are afraid to committ initially to an every week type schedule if they know they won’t be able to keep it up…

just some thoughts.

Our local church has a chapel for Eucharistic Adoration.
I’m not you what you mean by “sign up”. People are free to come and go anytime they want or are you talking about people agreeing to be there at certain times like supervisors to make sure no abuses or desecration takes place in the chapel?

The idea is that there has to be at least a couple of folks there at all times, if your going to have this devotion. So you have to fill a schedule, and commit people to be there, and if the next people on the schedule don’t show up for any reason, the previous ones are committed to stay.

Our parish has had Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration for a couple of years.

When a vacancy occurs, there is a bulletin announcement and also a note is tacked up outside the chapel.

There seems to be a steady supply of new people. It is very popular.

Our church just started Eucharistic Adoration. There was lots of information about it in the bulletin. Then we had an excellent speaker come talk after Mass. We had over 300 people sign up within 2 weeks.

I think the key was in the organization. We have a head person who oversees everything. In terms of time, however, she is in charge of contacting only 4 people (12am-6am, 6am-12pm, 12pm-6pm, & 6pm-12am Division Leaders). The Division Leaders in turn are responsible for contacting the 6 hourly leaders in their 6hr. time slot. The hourly leaders are responsible for calling & reminding the M-F people (we don’t have adoration on Sat. or Sun.) in their time slot only (i.e. if the Hourly Capt. goes to adoration on Wed. from 3pm-4pm they call all the 3-4pm people throughout the week). The burden of responsibility & calling is divided up. It really is quite effective.

At least two people of a group interested in having Public Eucharistic Adoration in their Church will approach their Priest (Pastor) requesting that he would invite a member of the Apostolate of Perp. Euch. Adoration, that is, if the Apostolate exists, usually a lay person,or a Priest to come and make a presentation at the week-end Masses. The presenter will place Invitation cards with pencils in pews, that show Name & address/'phone no., days of the week, individual hours and, he/she will invite people during Mass to make the commitment to spend one hour, once a week, every week in the Presence of Jesus when exposed in the Monstrance, either in the Church or in a special Adoration Chapel. The responses on the cards determine the hours and day or days that Adoration could be held.A public meeting is held within a couple of days conducted by the presenter and parishioners will decide if sufficient commitments have been received to warrant establishing a Eucharistic Group. If the response is positive,a Committee will be formed.(1) Head Co-ordinator,(2) Co-ordinators for every hour chosen.(3) Number of hours of Adoration,(4)Day or days Adoration. Essential there must be TWO members,at least, for every hour.
Guideline cards will be issued and discussion re funding (Heating & Lighting).Attendance book, Tansport for members. This a very brief outline.

Where Eucharistic Adoration already is in place, a Renewal is held every 2/3 years to encourage more people to join. Again, a presenter comes, on invitation, and makes a similar presentation I have outlined in an earlier reply at the week-end Masses. I can assure you it is always successful.
