I used to have visits all the time from the JWs. But when I put the Blessed Mother on my front door, they never visited again.
I can tell you that St. Francis in your front garden does not work, however! 😃

=JugglingReferee;8076258]So some time ago (~ 6 months), 2 JWs (women 50+) knocked on my door and we had a nice quick visit.
They dropped by again about 2 months later, and have been doing this ever since. The came by yesterday and will be back in August.
Today, the bulk of our discussion was after I asked them what about Catholicism they disagree with. The first thing that came to their mind is the Trinity. At the end of the conversation, the topic of the Eucharist came up and they said, “we have different opinions there too”.
They knew scripture quite well - at least the verses to make the points that they wanted to make.
I did take their 2 booklets and when they return, I do intent to show them a more accurate Catholic approach to those topics.
Edit: one lady came from a Protestant background; the other lady was Jewish.
If in reading there booklets EXPECT to find some Subtle [and perhaps even some not so subtle] good fashioned catholic bashing. It seems to be a reqular part of there instruction.

I for a while wrote corrective commentarieis on these but it didn’t help. Keep in mind they USE the bible BUT believe in the Book Of Morman".

If you’d care for some further tips just PM me.

God Bless you,
Pat

What do you guys think about following them around the neighborhood and after they leave a house, knock on the door, politely introduce yourself as a Christain, state that you noticed the Jehovah’s were just here, and hand the resident a small pamphlet on why the Jehovah’s Witnesses are a false religion?

They come to my neighborhood monthly, two pairs of them, and wouldn’t be doing it if it wasn’t fertile ground for them. I really want to reclaim the neighborhood, and perhapse send a strong message that they are not getting converts from the neighborhood without a fight.

Thoughts?

I don’t recommend it. Then you’ll be just as annoying. Even worse, they might compare you back at their meeting to the possessed girl who followed Paul and Barnabas around for a time.

Someone once suggested to me that I should speak out against the JW’s to let people know what they are like and what they are getting involved in. I said there would be no point because most know what JW’s are like and what they would be getting involved in. Those who don’t wouldn’t listen.

What MUST be done is Defend our Faith. If they express a position in opposition to it; call them on it in charity.

In relation to faith yes. What the person meant was telling people what goes on in the JW’s and how they operate rather than their teachings.

A couple weeks ago I heard my neighbors dogs (3) making quite a bit of noise about 10:30in the morning. Moments later a car of four women pulled into our driveway, one lady got out and asked my husband if he would like them to read some scripture with him. He said, “Thank you ma’am, my wife and I just completed our daily reading. We’re Catholic.” He said she practically baked away. There aren’t many Catholics around here.

I agree - I think their practices date from a much earlier age. If I was working in the field, I might be glad of a break to discuss religion 😃 Today, it’s just a nuisance.

They completely ignore “no soliciting” signs.

For some reason, I get a lot of local Bible churches as well, though if you ask them not to return they don’t.

Hey, that’s a good strategy…perhaps I should tell them I’m a former JW who left their church 😃 Alas, that would be lying.
Yes they do ignore them, I’ve tried to explain that the signs apply to them in my little town and reactions are always blustery to belligerent. Their belligerence combined with an infuriating experience with 4 toddlers in the living room twin 9 month olds in the tub and 5 dogs who broke down the baby gates when set off by these folks finished it with me. I am done when they rap the knocker on my door right under my “no soliciting” sign I do what my community service officer and various town employees told me to do for some time, I call 911 and report them.

I would want to know what they would do if they happened to knock on the door of the local parish priest or Bishop. Even better, they knocked on your door when your parish priest was visiting! 😃

I had the sad misfortune of being dragged to the door of the Parochial House in my town by an over-zealous JW. I asked him, ‘Are we really going to this door? Something tells me the person who lives here is not going to want to become a JW.’ His answer was, ‘Oh yes, we call on everyone.’ I remember standing at the door praying no one would be in, and there wasn’t. What a relief! However, I think it aroused my curiosity because ironically, a few years later I knocked the same door again only this time, I wanted to speak to the priest about becoming a Catholic. I would say that was my over-zealous companions intention in dragging me to the door of the Parochial House.

God works in mysterious ways! 😃

As an ex-JW, I personally think you are wasting you’re time.

The JW’s are not calling on you because they are interested in Catholicism, or because they want to hear what you have to say. They are calling on you because they want to recruit you into their ranks, and the fact that they have called back is an indication they believe you are someone who is receptive to their message. Placing literature with someone is something they see as a sign the person is interested in their teachings, despite any insistence on your part to the contrary.

JW’s are also greatly discouraged from calling with people who can make a good defense for their faith. If you do this when they return, it may be the last you see of them because they will realize they are fighting a loosing battle. It is also likely they will come away from your door believing they made a good defense for their faith, gave you really good answers and used their scriptures well despite what you may say.

JW’s will also call on anyone who takes their literature and engages them in Iconversation due to the fact that they are usually met with at best apathy, if not outright antagonism. They don’t encounter a lot of ‘interested people,’ or have a lot of what they call ‘good calls.’ t is also their practice to make a record of you’re name and address as an ‘interested party,’ if you engage them in discussion and accept literature. They fill out written ‘reports’ every month, stating how many hours they engaged in door-to-door work, how much literature they placed and how many ‘return visits’ they make. It doesn’t look good if you haven’t placed any literature or don’t have any ‘return visits’ to write on your report. The greatest achievement in the JW’s is establishing a regular bible study with someone and getting them to the meetings. If you get baptized into the JW’s people loose interest because you’re sorted. Meaning, when they get someone willing to talk to them and take literature they are inclined to hang onto them. When I was a JW, names of people who would invite you into your home and make you tea were kept for days when it was raining which happens quite a lot in Ireland. 😃

The only way you’re likely to make any headway with a JW to me, is if they having doubts anyway. They won’t admit that, but who knows, one of your ladies may be having doubts and you may plant a seed that could grow. It’s your call whether you think it’s worthwhile or not. I just wanted to let you know how they operate so you can make an informed decision as to how you approach it.
I agree completely…one suggestion is to find a guy called newagegamer3018 on youtube. A young x-JW who really knows his stuff and you can learn from him. Although not Catholic - and its a rarity to find a JW conver to Catholism - I was one of those that did and still struggle here and there . Was baptized as a catholic raised as a JW but converted back to Catholism as an adult.

Dont expect to convert but make your points clearly and always distingued let them know that you believe Jesus is GOD but not GOD THE FATHER…this is very important if you plan to discuss topics on the trinity

Most JW who leave leave on their own - I did - it had nothing to do with somone else showing me anything. it took 20 years to believe in GOD again…I became agnostic and borderline atheist. Allot of JW end up like this.

Ahahaha, that’s great! 😃

They make the rounds here too and I respect their missionary zeal. No way I’ll engage any missionary in a debate…they’re well prepared and while I’m opinionated and a God fearer I’m just not trained up for that sort of thing.

Here’s a THOUGHT on how to debate with them.

Accoring to there history Joseph Smith had a vision form an angel and told him what to do.

In that by defination an angel is a messenger from GOD; whi in order to be God MUST BE “all good things perfected”; this angel IF FROM GOD would have had to either Confirm and relate what Sacred Scripture and CONFRIM it’s teachings or not be angel; or was a bad angel.

WHAT DO YOU Think?

God Bless,
Pat
