I hope we are all holding this community in our prayers. Violence in schools are no longer rarities. Our young people need role models for non-violent resolutions. Bullying has to be handled early. Life needs to be valued. As parents, we need to work with the schools and teens to resolve an issue even before it begins to fester. Communication, respect and a return to morality needs to be part of the mission statement of every school. I hope we are all in agreement here?

May The Lord Bless All who were hurt and/or killed, and May He Bless All the families as well. Let us pray that this may never happen again. Amen.

It sounds like this child really sent out warning signs that were ignored. I think schools MUST enact policies to help students who are marginalized, bullied, teased, or ostracized. He sounds quite a bit like Dylan and Kleebold in “getting back” at those who had belittled him previously. This case is so eerily like Columbine that I fear it’s become a model for disturbed youth.

My nephiew got involved with some kind of neo-nazi group. Thank heavens he’s now in a federal prison as I felt he had a very hair trigger temper and he owned guns. Not a good combo.

I will keep your nephew in my prayers this week. I really believe that because of violent video games, the youth of our nation do not realize that there is no reset button for life. People cannot get up once they have been hit or shot or stabbed or blown up as in a video game. Consequences occur as a result of our actions.

******The kid that did these shootings was so troubled…beyond belief really. His mother was in a convalecent home due to injuries sustained in an accident, the same accident killed his cousin, his father committed suicide as a result of losing his wife that way, and the boy was left with grandparents who wouldn’t let him live with family outside the reservation they lived on. He was so secluded. He was teased and bullied at school, and no one came to his aide. He found consolation on neo-nazi websites that filled his 14 year old mind with garbage…and he snapped. When are schools going to get more involved with children like this one. It is so unique because it happened on a reservation with little state or government regulations at the school. Maybe they didn’t have a program in place to get this kid some counseling?
