I have noticed that usually around Easter time in churches which have a great Polish congregation that the crucifix is draped with a red stole.

Does anyone know what this custom is all about?

I wouldn’t say our catholic churches here intown have large polish congregations. But both churches had the Crucifix draped in red cloth. I believe this represents the fact that Christ was gone from our sight once buried in the tomb. Along with the Tabernackle being empty and open these are the two hardest things for me to look upon on Good Friday. I almost feel…abandoned for a lack of a better word.
