Redemption vs Salvation

Another thread made me think of this question that I often run into…Catolics make a distinction between redemption and salvation. Many Protestants do not. Where does the Church get the basis for this distinction (and can someone give me a good defintion of ‘Redemption’)? Is there bibical evidence, or is it mainly from the Church Fathers and Tradition? Thank you!

First of all, are you trying to say that the Bible *isn’t *a product of the Church Fathers and Tradition? 🙂

Secondly, think of it like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Redemption is getting the Golden Ticket into Willy Wonka’s factory. Salvation is not getting yourself turned into a giant blueberry, miniaturized, sucked through a chocolate vacuum, or whatever and getting kicked out on the way in.

The trouble is, by using the Bible alone you can make a case for believing that redemption and salvation are the same things, especially for those Protestants who like to string verses together without regard to their context and read into them what they want them to say.

However, do not despair. It is not that hard to explain. Redemption is what Jesus did for all of us on the cross. They will certainly agree with that. When we take advantage of that redemption we can be saved, which not everyone does, and they will agree with that too. Our redemption was involuntary but taking God up on it, the being saved part, is up to us to do.

When I was in the Assemblies of God there was a big argument raging amongst us about this issue and I don’t expect it’s changed since then, so don’t expect all Protestants on the Evangelical side of Christianity to agree.

Redemption’s definition to buy/recover OWNERSHIP. That’s what Jesus has already done. Jesus sacrifice Once&for All…to recover/buy back the World who fell into satan/lucifer’s rule when adam&eve disobeyed God. Now we just partake of the Benefits (Issaiah 53,promises of God by Holy Spirit,Hebrews 4:1-13.) Jesus gave us Now…& Forever…READ YOUR BIBLE ASK YOUR TEACHER -God Himself in Jesus name-And the Holy Spirit who Jesus said would be with us and IN US ALWAYS to reveal-teach-show&Tell God’s will…But test all messages,visions,dreams,prophecies-if they donot confess Jesus is the Son of God&call Him Lord-they are False,if Jesus, ask to see His pierced hands&Feet,we must not be decieved. start John in new testament-asking the Holy Spirit to open the eyes(not one eye…lol) of your understanding with notebook & hi-liter in hand -writed down the revealations you never seen or heard of before.Time to be born again &Full Stature of JC
 
original sin-the fall of all man kind thru the disobedience of Adam/Eve—But Jesus Once and for All shed his blood-for without the shedding of blood their is no remission of sin,it’s consequence,it’s rememberance. Jesus the final sacrifice. so it is the shed blood of Jesus that removed original sin. Baptism by our Beloved Savior/Redeemer Jesus’s example in WATER-all the way covered -submerged-Jesus came up out of the water-the Holy Spirit ascended upon—then the baptism of the Holy Spirit w/ Holy Fire-the Father sends-Acts 1- comes upon and with and in Us…making us witnesses of God the Father in Jesus name with the Holy Spirit manifesting God’s “finished works” to us,in us,thru us that the World would know there is a true living Father God-Abba and that God sent Jesus His only begotten son to save the World. We are all created Genesis 1:25-26 In their -Father,son Jesus,Holy Spirit,Holy Fire image & likeness thru Jesus Full Stature. Galations 3:28 there are no(catholics,protestants,lutherns,ect)Jew or Greek,slaveor free,male or female in the Body of Jesus Christ. So enjoy the union and communion of the Father &Son by the Holy Spirit…Delight in the finished works of God flowing to,in,thru you manifesting what the world&church call MIRACLES of God In Jesus name…All glory to God & Jesus…God loves us so…TRUTH BE REVEALED NOW…We delight in God
