Being a craddle catholic,we were taught that God sent his Son to redeem the world and that the Jews were waiting for someone to save them from the injustices under the Romans. So it appears to me that at the time no one was aware of the need for redemption. I also find it difficult to understand why would our God who is Just and all merciful cause us to suffer for the sins of Adam and Eve and hence need redemption. Any one can help with my querries would be appreciated. Thank you

As for the first part of your question, I couldn’t disagree more: in the four Gospels there are dozens of individual cases of people coming to Our Lord and confessing that they are sinners in need of a savior. These are just select cases the Holy Spirit inspired the authors to record; likely they are just a small sample of the number of times this happened during Our Lord’s public ministry.

I’ll leave part two to the theologically-trained.
