Our souls long and thirst for God, even when we don’t recognize it.
Ever had those moments when you just feel lonely, even though you may be surrounded by people? Perhaps that is God longing to speak to you. He calls us by name.
Ever had a time when you wake in the middle of the night with someone on your mind? Perhaps that is God asking you to pray for them. He calls us to pray for each other.
Ever had a time when you just felt restless, jittery, or fatigued? Perhaps that is God calling for you to trust in Him. He calls us to place His yoke upon our shoulders so He can bear the heavy part of our burden.
Ever had a difficult situation where you weren’t sure what to say to someone else or how to handle it? Perhaps that is God reminding you to ask for His words and His assistance. He calls us to be His Light and Love to others.
Let’s think about our souls a little more during the day. When we feel cravings for something that is not good for us, let’s fill ourselves instead with God’s grace. When we feel depressed or lonely, let’s talk to the One who loves us most in this world – He is waiting for us!
I think St. Augustine said it best in his Confessions: “Our souls, made by the Creator, long to be united with Him, and our souls will be restless until they rest in Thee, O God.”
