Feast of St. Cecilia - Patroness of Music
The Very Reverend Derek Lappe, pastor of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church will celebrate a High Mass according to the 1962 Missal (Extraordinary Form) in thanksgiving to God for the gift of sacred music and in praise of Glorious Cecilia, this November 22nd at 7pm.
Adam Schwend conducts Schola Stella Maris, Star of the Sea’s in-residence professional ensemble, which will provide the liturgical music, including William Byrd’s “Mass for Four Voices”, Francesco Guerrero’s “Dum aurora finem”, Giovanni Nanino’s “Diffusa est Gratia”, and plainsong propers. “Blessed Cecilia: Appear in visions to all musicians…appear and inspire!”
