When talking to baptist and non denominationals when we talk back an forth about Jesus the bible and when I quote scripture
I am next asked What church I go to I respond the Roman Catholic Church
Then I am asked (and this has happened 10+ times). You must be a “reformed catholic”
I say I have never heard of such a thing.
Then they go on how I have a personal relationship with Christ so I must be working on changing the rcc from the inside as a reformer (this has happened Everytime)
I respond no I embrace all of the teachings of Jesus and the church he established
And I refer them to
catholic.com if they need to learn more
Anyone else have this experience
Once it came from someone who has a high position at focus on the family
Adamsio,
The only way to know what this means is to ask.
You must be a Reformed Catholic…
answer…
Well, I would surely like to know what you mean by that…wait and let them explain…
Whatever they say, get a copy of the Audio Catechism USA and listen to it 20 times and answer anything they say as follows…
I believe that I have a personal relationship with Jesus as should you…
I believe that in many and various ways God spoke to us in part through Prophets and in these last days He spoke to us through His Son…the sum total of what God wants us to know is summed up in one person, one word…Jesus…I am sure you agree…then
Tell them that what you believe is based on Divine Revelation…and that the sum total of what it is you believe is based on the Apostolic Deposit of Faith…and in summary it is as follows…
Profession of Faith…cite the Creed…because all we believe flows from that…by acknowledging these beliefs, studying these beliefs, we put on the mind of Christ…
next
Tell them based on the profession of Faith we strive to live the Sacramental life gifted to us…and in that life we have a very personal relationship with Christ…in the Sacramental life we venerate Scripture as we do the Body of Christ that we are having that relationship with.
next
Tell them our God is Holy and we strive to be Holy by modeling Christ where we want to be like our older brother, Christ by living a moral life, forming our conscience, conforming ourselves to Christ so that we may be transformed by Him…constantly repenting=changing our minds and not being conformed to this world but being transformed by the renewal of our minds
next
Tell them we know that on our own we can do nothing and we constantly ask for help by praying and that we hope to pray with out ceasing…
and that this personal relationship goes beyond just saying Yeah Jesus…it is a total committment of mind/body and actions…
because as we think and believe so we act and if we act in a way that others find attractive they will know us by our fruits and we will attract more people to Christ.,…
then ask them what they think of that…
