How do we refute scientism or new atheism? A big deal seems to mention the fact that God cannot be measured or empirically discovered/observable by the five senses that he doesn’t exist? I was thinking of an approach of miracles and or the Eucharist but since most atheists won’t accept the Eucharist is the main refutation miracles?

Dear Struggling,
I, too, struggle. I have 4 atheists in my family and friend circle. STEPHEN HAWKINGS said THERE IS NO GOD. I was going to reach out to Steven and reconnect him to God. He’s hard to reach x snail mail. Haven’t made it yet. New findings w the GENOME. Man’s Genome has something different than animal genome?? Can’t recall what!
They created the God Particle in Sweden(?). I thought that was pro God but it is pro Big Bang.
The disgusting thing is Atheists, having come to their decision, are content w it. They don’t keep challenging their thinking. If new things come out, they’ll miss it. Frustrating. There are Christian Scientists. Some of us see the wonder of God everywhere. Why don’t we all?
My thinking is on breaking down, if this was a com-job! What did Jesus gain by worldly standards? Money, a Castle? He was tortured and died. The apostles, WHAT DID THEY GET FOR TRYING TO CON US? New homes, money, world recognition! Nope=DEATH! So, why did these ppl
Leave home and jobs to preach this message and save souls, unless it was true. No monitory gain. No medals, crowns, castles. Poverty and torture and Death… HUH! If this con job has lasted 2018 yrs. It has to be true. Other, alleged Messiahs, faded away. Three centuries of persecution and death, yet Jesus’s name is sung on high. Will this move an Atheists heart?!! We must keep trying.

Thank you so much! It’s really difficult when we are raised to believe science is the lens to explain everything! It’s not true!

That’s just a name; it has nothing to do with God.

One way might be to point out that ‘scientism’ is a belief system. Real science doesn’t truck in belief systems. QED. 😉

OK, so: a being that is defined as being purely spiritual and without physical extension cannot be measured physically (i.e., empirically). Umm… all that proves is that the definition is accurate: “God ain’t physical.”

Now… if they want to make the case that the only things that exist are physical things, let them have at it. However, unless they make recourse to a belief system which makes that claim (NB: see first paragraph above 😉 ), then they can’t prove their point. In other words, science, which deals only in physical systems, cannot make claims about non-physical systems. Therefore, science cannot be applied outside of its sandbox. 🤷‍♂️

“I don’t believe in anything I can’t touch or see, so I can’t believe in God”.
Do you believe in the existence of the subconscious mind?
Do you believe in the concept of Justice, or that there is such a thing as truth? You can’t see truth or touch and handle justice.
Do you love someone? Produce your love for me to examine.

Zaccheus, excellent. Faith, we believe worldly things but not Spiritual. Like, a city bus says, MAIN ST. You get on believing but got off on Market St. WHAT?? The driver forgot to change his sign! BUT YOU ARE READY TO BELIEVE! Can Atheists not feel their life source? Photos of accidents have shown musts leaving body. No fire or smoke.
You believe in our Sun! Where is it on a cloudy day? You believe in love, even if you haven’t found it yet. We choose to believe in God, even when He is silent. (Song).
Why is it, there are scientists who see God everywhere and others do not choose to follow them?! Is following NOTHING so important?

There’s nothing new about it. They’re merely engaging in the same old arguments the Enlightenment father’s made. I’d ask them why they’re so intolerant about other’s private beliefs. Ask them why they’re against free thought and freedom of religion. That usually trips them up.
