Regarding Anglicans: Have I got this right?

I’ve been trying to think of a diplomatic, intelligent way to characterize my view of Hans Kung. I just keep being stuck with, “Hans Kung blows” lol

The groups of Anglicans considering and accepting the Holy Father’s offer do not go through the motions of ordaining women. Of the many things they dislike about the way Anglicanism has gone, women ordination is among the top issues.

Back in the 1970’s many of the people accepting the offer left the communion with TEC in the States over the illegal, unscriptural, non-tradition and against reason move to tell women they can be ordained.

So, there will not be any women in these groups who are or think they are ordained seeking ordination in the Catholic Church. There maybe religious and some groups call them deaconess as my jurisdiction calls them. We do not ordain them, but “set aside for the work of God and Church”. They take vows. They would be similar to Catholic Nuns. We even have Anglican Monks, similar to Catholic Monks. I have a friend who is going to an Anglican Monastary this summer.

“Ordained women” leaving the TEC are going into the ACNA, though the ACNA’s canons and constitution does not allow for the ordaining of women by and large, it does allow them to be “grandmothered in” or recieved from jurisdictions that do ordain women.

So, do not worry, the Anglicans coming to Rome will not be joining the liberal Catholics pushing to make the RCC like the TEC. These Anglicans have seen and rejected the innovations to bring the church in line with a sick culture and will not want to see it reproduced in their new home. Hence why on some of the liberal catholic blogs they are very opposed to this “coming home” of conservative, traditional Anglicans. Just ask Hans Kung!

You mean you just want to become a Latin Rite Catholic outside of the Anglican Use? Sure, it’s possible. Just head on down to your nearest RC parish and talk to the priest. The AC is aimed at Anglicans who are coming over as an entire parish; if you’re not interested in that, you can just join RCIA like any other potential convert.

That works for me.

Really, Kung and others of his ilk (Charles Curran, Richard McBrien) have always struck me as odd. Here they are in a church which demands dotted-line assent and obedience, and they kick against the pricks. Why they don’t all do as Matthew Fox did and join a church more tolerant of their ideas is a mystery to me. Why identify as Catholic if you want to jettison the distinctives of the tradition? I don’t get it!

You will have to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation in the Catholic Church. Usually this is done at the same time you are received. Once that’s done (along with your first confession) you can receive all Sacraments since you are now officially a Catholic.

Not right away. You probably can receive the eucharist, and penance.

Marriage depends on having someone to marry. Ordination depends on being trained and approved for ordination, Holy Unction depends on being very sick and/or dying. Baptism, presumably, you have already been baptised.

LOL…I was thinking the same thing? But then again, I’m tired of analyzing the myriad bizarre mistakes in grammar and spelling in CAF. We keep getting thread titles that say things like “Orthodoxy makes the most sence” and other curious errors …the legacy of not teaching grammar and spelling in schools!

I only remember getting a roar of approval from my 12th grade English teacher when I used the word “divers” (as in diverse, but proper without the “e”). All the English I need to know comes from the 1928 BCP. I just supplemented it with loads of Shakespeare, Pope, Swift, Sam Johnson, KJB, Elliot, and let us not forget Rochester.

You will have to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation in the Catholic Church. Usually this is done at the same time you are received. Once that’s done (along with your first confession) you can receive all Sacraments since you are now officially a Catholic.

I Believe In All Of The Catholic Churches Teachings Including Purgatory Even Though My Anglican Priest Tells Me Not To :L

My youngest daughter who had learning disabilities doesn’t captalize any words. She is very intelligent and I wonder if it is just being lazy on her account or if it is because of her learning problems. But I try not to find fault with others when either they don’t spell correctly or their grammar is not right. I myself don’t always spell certain words correctly.

We don’t know if a person is from the US and of course our public schools are soooo great. Or if the person is from another country. Please re-read your posts and understand that actually you guys are making fun of a poster who seems to be asking a serious question.

When I type it is easy to make mistakes, even after proofing my text. Give people a break okay?
