I typed up a document recently, and well…
I’m currently on psychotropic drugs, and they often severely limit my emotions and their expressions internally. So from this new vantage point of the human person who is somewhat handicapped, though still a whole person as observed by my individual soul, I’ve had a completely new opinion on philosophy and the Church.
Some of it is negative and microscopic, while other parts are trying to make sense of saint’s works and little quips. One thing that got my attention was when I was reading St. Alphonsus de Liguori’s Uniformity with God’s Will, “A single act of uniformity with the divine will suffices to make a saint.”
I was recently studying predestination, meaning that one action, if done perfectly, would be sufficient to predestine a person’s soul for heaven. I’ve seen people that seem to be completely unaffected by the world at large, and can command thousands of people without stilt or affect to demeanor–something I used to think was impossible. Kripparrian (a pseudonym) showed me otherwise. Basically, what St. Alphonsus said as taking the world in and being unaffected by it: not in ecstasy over good, or in dismay over bad–part of what makes a saint.
This, and the rest, is found in my 3-page, 1 1/2 spaced, document. Apologies for the title, but it was what came to mind at first. I am curious to see if someone can redeem my opinion and fervor for the Catholic Church by any sufficient argument. I know people can’t literally change others, but I can at least study your responses hopefully for the betterment of discussion.
Maybe a few good ol’ ideas will spark.
