This expect this post may make some people very angry. I thought this over before posting it … for a couple hours. I decided to take the plunge. I am not afraid of being despised for this.

I am of the opinion that we need to seriously, fervently and vigorously pray for the conversion of Osama bin Laden to the Catholic faith.

Saul of Tarsus persecuted and killed Christians. He was zealous about it, too. Osama bin Laden reminds me of a modern-day Saul of Tarsus.

I ask myself, if Saul of Tarsus were alive today, what kind of person might he be like? To be honest, the first person that comes to mind is Osama bin Laden. (That is, before Saul saw the light).

God acted upon Saul of Tarsus DIRECTLY, invoking a serious change of heart and conversion. Saul repented and became one of the most active and zealous laborers in the Lord’s vineyard, one of the best disciples of Christ that has ever lived. St. Paul is one of the greatest of all the saints, and he wrote, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, nearly half of the New Testament!

If God were to convert Osama bin Laden to Catholicism, he might choose to apply his natural zeal and fervor towards the right path to God, and in the process, take several million of his Muslim followers with him.

I still think it is possible to save Osama’s soul. If he could be converted to the truth—just imagine what he’d do. Half the Muslims would become Catholic OVERNIGHT if Osama embraced Catholicism and started preaching the gospel.

It would be nothing short of GLORIOUS!!! I get tears in my eyes at imagining such a wonderous thing.

I am praying that Osama be knocked off his horse, shown the light, and flooded with so much grace that it would be impossible for Osama to refuse God’s love. I welcome all of you to join me. Pray for Osama’s FIAT!

I think there’s still hope for him.

Plus, I also had the thought that—perhaps—some of the early Christians brought about the conversion of Saul of Tarsus through prayer. I also wonder if—perhaps—one of those early Christians was The Blessed Virgin Mary herself. I imagine that she would have prayed for the conversion of Saul. There would be no shame in invoking her as Intercessory in this matter, too.

On the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus said that we should love our enemies and to do good to those that hurt us. It’s not always easy to follow these words. Some here on this forum may have even lost loved ones at the action of this man, Osama bin Laden.

But what greater act of love could there be than praying for the salvation/conversion of this modern-day Saul of Tarsus?

And we should continue to pray for him despite any future terror attacks he thrusts upon us in the future. We should continue to pray for his salvation all the way up to his very last breath and our own.

God bless!

🙂 Why should you be despised for wanting the best for your brother…however sinful he may be? Thank YOU for the suggestion. What we need to pray for is Osama’s conversion of heart which precedes any conversion. We pray for those who are in most need of God’s Mercy. That they may have a real conversion of the heart. Amen.

No objections from me, either! Every day I pray for both our men and women serving in Afghanistan and Iraq (and around the world) and for the conversion of those who believe, like Osama, that violence and terrorism will get them what they want. God help us all to come to repentance for our sins, be they great or small. 🙂

Your post reminds me of Fr. Groeschel years ago saying that he prayed for the conversion of Madonna, the singer. He especially wanted her to be inspired to become a contemplative nun in Tierra del Fuego.

My favorite bumper sticker: “God bless the whole world; no exceptions.”

I’ve been praying for Osama for years now. I think our prayers do make a difference and are pleasing to God. I’m not about to stop praying for him and all those that follow him.

Good!

I’ve only started praying for him very recently, after hearing his latest audio tape. I honestly thought he was dead.

Be realistic, never happen. If The Pope suddenly became a Presbyterian, or Baptist, would you follow? You are assuming terrorists have naught but a hive mind. They are devoted to what they see as their cause, and will just consider Bin laden a traitor.

If none of you will object I will. Not to you praying for him of course although I rather persoanlly pray for his damnation if anything, not that I would ever do that since that would be morally wrong. However, Osama hates America and the Western World, not Catholics. Osama Bin Ladin killed some of his own people proabably since there were probably some Muslims that worked in the World Trade Center. What good would turning him Catholic do. He already foudn a way to screw up his religon and cause unecessary hatred towards Muslims. Why give him a chance to screw up Catholicism?

Now, if you pray for his complete reformation on all grounds then why would any of us object to that. If anything of that regard happened he wouls seem more like the antichrist than anything else to me, but who knows.

With God, all things are possible. St. Teresa prayed for the conversion of a convicted killer and her prayers were answered. Thanks Golden Arrow, I hope more and more people will pray for him and others too…like Ted Kennedy and Hilary Clinton. Prayer does change hearts.

It is not **because **of his faith, it is **despite **of it.
yes you do need to pray for bin ladin .And in any case if you say Our Father’s prayer, you would have done just that since the “Our” + the “us” in it includes Bin Ladin also the phrase “especially those in most need of Thy mercey” takes care of hopeless cases like bin laden and Benny hinn.
