If people do bring it up all to time “because it’s painful to him” I don’t think we need to worry unless Mr. White is a member here. That it might be painful is irrelevant then.

I personally think it’s notable and would bring it up as appropriate.
According to his blog, he reads what people say here. Nonetheless, my point was less about his feelings and more about the intent of the poster.

I agree… and would add “White has no authority but himself (O’ Sola Meo) to be credible in the Word of God.”
(Edited by Moderator). Repeating an argument does not lend it any creedance. Might you explain why, if as you say, Dr. White “has no authority but himself” does he submit to his pastor?
Kinda of like Pilate… though he actually looked Truth in the face, and said “Truth, what is Truth”.
How exactly is Pilate’s quote relevant to Dr. White? As Miki noted in her guest appearance on Dr. White’s program, Dr. White has consistently said the same things since he began debating Roman Catholicism. Thus Dr. White doesn’t view truth as some subjective concept, like Pilate, changeable depending on the need, rather there is an objective understanding of both Scripture and doctrine.

See, the Reformed do not believe in solo Scriptura… there’s a difference.

James White reads CA Forums? That is cool. And good to know. Hola, Mr.White 👋.

1] As a reformed Baptist, you probably rely on the bible as your only source of authority.
If so, you have read that Jesus claimed all Authority for Himself. Those who act, even “in his name”, without His authority, do not have legitimate authority,

2] Jesus did not say to all men… “…feed My sheep, tend My flock, feed My sheep.” He gave that authority and responsibility to the Apostle, St Peter.

Further, Jesus gave Peter alone ( and then Peter AND the Apostles in union with him) the Authority to Bind and Loose.

3] Unless James White can show clearly that he has been handed a legitimate authority (going back to Jesus)… then James White has no legitimate authority to teach.

Now, he has attained a lot of knowledge… and he will get some things right… we all do. But he is the epitome of what I call O’ Sola Meo… no different that the 20 or perhaps 30 thousand different groups, communities, or churches who each claim to profess a true faith, and a true understanding of the meaning of Scripture.

4] Yes, Jesus did say He prayed that we all might be one… I and others think that JW acts like he is that one.😉

How exactly is Pilate’s quote relevant to Dr. White?

Because White looks at the Truth… the inerrant Word of God found in Scriptures… and does not recognize the Truth.

If you do not believe in Sola Scriptura, what other legitimate authority do you recognize as a source of the Truth. ?

.

It was on the Journey home, and so people talked about it. You can always skip threads that you don’t want to read…OP.

This kinda made me chuckle.😃
I hardly ever miss a Journey Home episode. Yet I must have missed this one. Would have loved to seen it. Any chance it is archived somehow?
