Registration

I am a Catholic. for starters when I was a kid all my services were in a different language now that I live in the US obviously they are in English and most of the prayers I do not know. Since at somepoint I will get married in the US, I have to register at church. Which is very soon. And I am kind of curious what do I need to be able to register at church.

For years I was never a practicing Catholic but for the past year or longer I have been attending the same church and getting back in touch wqith my religion. Because of the language barrier that I did face at some point I do not want to go into registration and disappoint anyone and not know any answers or anything. WHat do I need during the registration meeting process.

All Catholics are required to be registered in a parish. It should be the parish in which you live but that rule is no longer enforced in most diocese. What you would need is a copy of your Baptism certificate and proof of your residence. If you obtain a current certificate form the parish you were Baptized in. On the back will be a record of any other Sacraments received.

You will need proof of Baptism in the Catholic Church. You might also need proof of first Holy Communion or Confirmation. If you do not have these documents, but know the name of the Church where you received the Sacraments in your native country, they may be able to obtain copies of these records for you by fax or mail. If you never received the Sacraments, you will need to apply to an RCIA program. Just talk to the Priest. He will probably be very happy to help you in any way he can. Good Luck and God Bless!
