Reiki?

Reading this book has opened my eyes to the inherent dangers of the New Age movement. My boss at work is heavily in to all this garbage and speaks of it to me constantly. She is an “advanced Reiki healer” and now I am worried that she may be trying to “heal me” without my knowledge.

I had someone who was practicing Reiki try to lay hands on me at a dinner party once, I really was uncomfortable and put a stop to her right away. I didn’t know a lot about it at the time, but I knew enough not to let anyone who was practicing anything New Age not to practice on me.

Trust your instinct, but don’t be afraid, you have Christ on your side and you are not falling into this stuff. Pray daily and just don’t approve of any touching by her.

I just finished reading a wonderful book about a woman who engaged in New Age practices and through the grace of God and the Blessed Mother’s intercession, came back to her Catholic faith. I would HIGHLY recommend it to those arguing both sides of this issue.

The book is** “Ransomed from Darkness”** by Moira Noonan. It was out of print for a while buit is now back in print and available through Amazon or Spirit Daily.

There is also another good book by Father Mitch Pacwa called Catholics And The New Age. He takes you through all the dangers of the various practices.

Most fears about Reiki have come from pure ignorance of it. There is nothing evil about it. My wife, a nurse, is a reiki practitioner. Nursing Schools are now starting to offer it. Nobody conjures up any spirits. If anybody remembers, Jesus himself healed with his hands. Most (if not all) Reiki folks feel their healing gift has come straight from God.

Read and be educated!

The reiki masters have “spirit guides”. I know this seems harmless, but please do more research. It’s very difficult to get free of this once you expose yourself to it, that in itself is a red flag. Pray about it and ask Jesus to show you the truth.

Father Pacwa’s book “Catholics and The New Age” is excellent. He does a great job with this topic.
