Interesting that you have asked that question.

The Franciscan St. Anthony’s Shrine in Boston is offering a course called: **REIKI: Self-Healing and Transformation **in its Franciscan School:

saintanthonyshrine.com/PDF/franciscanschool.pdf

Seems to be another name for faith healing and is too touchy-feely for me (I don’t want some Gay person using Reiki as an excuse to be able to rub their hands all over me! :mad: ).

Hee hee!

There is no touching in reikie.It is very new age garbage.
Hi,

Still, the course description I provided in the above post describes the course:

“Reiki, the ancient Japanese art of hands-on healing.” and

“You will also have an opportunity to experience a brief hands-on Reiki treatment.”

Sounds touchy-feely to me, and very new age garbage.

There is a type of reikie where you just move the hands over the body to control the life energy.

New age has recently become a problem in the Church. We need to stay away from anything like this. There is a book out about it (can’t remember the name, and frankly it is too late to think) I plan to read it, I guess it has suggestion for what we can do about it also. If it sounds strange check it out.

At any rate, reiki is not a practice compatible with Catholicism regardless of it being practiced in some churches. This needs to be stopped, people are being misled right in their own parishes.

An acquaintance of mine is a Reiki Master.
One day she offerred to “help me” as I was feeling sick.
I’ll tell ya what - it was downright silly, and no - I didn’t get any better.

I think the big question I have is…why bother?
We belong to a faith where we worship the source of healing…why would we turn to a cheap, ineffective imitation?

Any one who participates in Reiki need to have thier mind RE-KEYED.This is of the OCCULT. :eek: God Bless

Reiki is an occultic new age practice that is not condoned by the Church. This new age practice and others like it, (example: enneagram), is an attempt by satan to destroy the Church from the inside out. Of course, he will not succeed because the gates of hell shall not prevail. The bishop must put a stop to this where it is ocurring. Stay away from it.

God Bless you.

I’m not personally familiar with Reikie but you might be interested to look into the Copper Wall Project done by the Menninger Clinic in Topeka. They used a number of healers and measured electric fields generated while they were “healing.” Something does happen. What and why is still in question, but not all healing is simple fraud.

Lisa, Kevin’s fantasies of gay strangers wanting to rub their hands all over him are most definitely not fact. I feel fully qualified to make that declaration as a student of both reality and human insanity. This is the latter.

From the website www.crossveil.org:

Much like other forms of “New Age healing” techniques, the following characteristics are common of Reiki:
  1. The technique is promoted as special and unique but obtainable via weekend workshops;
  2. Reception of power comes through a lineage of masters;
  3. The power is controlled via a supernatural power, whether divine, angelic or universal;
  4. It is a spiritual power operating through a quasi-scientific metaphysical & mechanistic paradigm;
  5. Psychic powers accompany the reception of the healing power;
  6. “Healers” may charge money for their services.
It is dangerous new age bunk that opens people up to demonic influences.

Why is it that any issue or the mention of homosexuality brings you out of hiding?
