Sufjon,
Here is a philosophical explanation of why reincarnation is impossible.
The soul is in substantial union with the body. In order for man to be one substance composed of a spiritual soul and a material body, it is necessary that the soul and the body share one act of being, not two. The difficulty here lies in the fact that the soul has being in itself such that it continues in existence after being separated from the body. In order for man to be one, therefore, the soul must share its act of being with the living body that it animates, so that the whole man-body and soul-has one act of being, which being, nevertheless, is not lost with the death of the body. After death, the soul continues to have being in itself, and the body will regain its share in that being in the resurrection, being animated once again by the soul…. The soul communicates its own being to the body. The soul animates a body to give actual existence, not merely potential existence. When the soul leaves the body, the body corrupts.
The soul is also not annihilated when the body dies, because the soul is immortal. The body gets its animating principle from the soul. The body is not just an interchangeable container. It would not be fitting for a brute animal to be animated by a soul that is not capable of using the faculties of intellect, memory and will that a human soul provides, nor would it be fitting that a human soul would be limited to an animal body that cannot adapt to many environments. It would also not be fitting that an adult human soul be put in an infant, because the intellect of that soul would not have the images on which its abstract concepts are based. Man is equipped with his own intellect, which is dependent on imagination. Since imagining is an operation taking place in a bodily part (namely, the brain), when the soul is separated from the body it has not simply left behind something extraneous to human nature. Since a rational soul without a body cannot (naturally) exercise its rationality, a soul without a body is not a complete person. The particular body one has is an instrument uniquely fitted to one’s particular soul, and without it one could not be one’s complete self.
God does not need to recycle souls. He is powerful enough to make as many as He wants. He creates us as unique, unrepeatable individuals. To think otherwise decreases our human dignity. Thus, reincarnation is impossible.
