You need to read The Convoluted Universe series of books by Dolores Cannon.
!. The physical brain does not remember anything from past lives, but the soul remembers each past life and grows spiritually with experience. At birth when the soul takes incarnation its starts of from the spiritual level reached in the previous birth.I have two questions for those who believe in reincarnation, whether they’re New Age, Hindu, or anything else. It is my understanding that we learn from our past lives and as we go through many lives, we improve in virtue until we finally achieve Nirvana. Question One: How do we learn from past lives we have no recollection of? Question Two: Why would someone naturally improve with time? There’s plenty of people who get worse as they age or stay the same or go back and forth. Couldn’t that be the same across multiple lifetimes? Those questions are based on my understanding, or I should say lack of understanding, of reincarnation. Thanks in advance for any replies.
One thing I find problematic with reincarnation, is that if a person is encountering difficulties or is born to a disadvantaged group, like the Untouchables, the theory of past sins in past lives is brought forward as an excuse to mistreat them.!. - A person does not ‘naturally’ improve with time. It is pain, suffering, adversity experienced in earthly life as well as the opportunity to serve others that helps a person grow spritually.
This is the fault of the people who do the mistreatment. All sorts of excuses can be used for mistreatment - the person’s education, intellectual state, social status, skin color, sexual orientation - just about anything. Whether people mistreat a particular group does not make reincarnation itself invalid. One thing I find problematic with reincarnation, is that if a person is encountering difficulties or is born to a disadvantaged group, like the Untouchables, the theory of past sins in past lives is brought forward as an excuse to mistreat them.

The above sounds more like a misunderstanding of how the law of how karma works rather than a difficulty of reincarnation. People who don't believe in either one, when they see a person in some sort of misfortune will assume he made his own problems.
Karma is actually a good thing. It allows us to have the experiences we need for our growth both in the sense of experiencing what life is like under varied conditions, and also allowing us to piggyback onto others experiences by being an aide to those in difficulty. Those who mistreat others will need to experience difficulties in order for them (their soul) to understand why they should be their brothers keeper.
In Buddhism, rebirth, just like the universe itself, is not created or set up with a purpose. There is no transcendent creator God in Buddhism and so rebirth need not conform to any kind of purpose, like being a learning experience. Any divine beings in Buddhism are part of the universe and are mortal, even though some (according to legend) have unimaginable long lifespans - so long that some have mistakenly come to believe they are eternal. From a Buddhist point of view all divine beings will die. Should YHWH exist, he will die (and be reborn). Should Allah exist, he will die (and be reborn). Should Vishnu exist, he will die (and be reborn).I have two questions for those who believe in reincarnation, whether they’re New Age, Hindu, or anything else.
