Why weren’t these gospels accepted: Gospel of Truth, the Gospel of Thomas, The Gospel of Peter, the Gospel of Marcion, the Gospel of Mani, the Gospel of Apelles, the Gospel of Bardesanes, the Gospel of Basilides, the Gospel of Cerinthus and the Gospel of Matthias or the Gospel of Peter?

I am not acquianted with most of those. However, the Gospel of Thomas was rejected as a gnostic writting.

Two reasons are:
They conflict in some part with the deposit of faith
There was a question as to their authenticity (where they written when and by whom they claimed)

The Gospels contained in the NT were those who’s “pedegree” was impeccable. Books of more dubious origin, even though they might contain elements of interest, were not included in the NT canon.

Peace
James
