LET’S GET REAL FOR A MOMENT PEOPLE. I clearly said that i wanted to DEFEND the catholic faith. I was never even given the opportunity to be charitable! I would be pretty naive if I thought I could convert everyone. The funny part is you say their motto is “The Truth Shall Set You Free”… That’s what I listed as my personal statement of faith :dancing: NO WONDER THEY WOULDN’T LET ME ON

By defending our faith through apologetics we MAY however set a teeny tiny foundation… ever watch “The Journey Home” on EWTN? It might take 10 years but you have to plant a seed. I should at least be given a chance to defend Holy Mother Church.

I post on the CARM forum. There are a few Protestant posters who are not very friendly and kind of repeat the same old, same old anti-Catholic lines. However, once in a while there are some interesting exchanges.

And who knows, there could be a soul searching and one of our posts may edge him/her in the right direction.

I am not being mean to you or anybody else, but I think it rude and unsightful to try and blindly convert people. What if a… oh, say Jehovah’s Wittness came on here and started preaching. I will never try to convert anybody as long as I live. I love to defend my beautiful Catholic faith, however I do not go around trying to convert other people. It is their bussiness if they want to beleive in lies, why bother? Can you see a baptist on that board typing “Hey, Im sorry, I will convert to Catholic now!”? Do you know how much of a bad impression that puts on Christians? People have their own beleifs and it is wrong to intrude. I
As Catholics, we believe that our church has the fullness of truth, the complete gospel (good news) of our Lord, Jesus Christ. Why wouldn’t you want to share that with others? People want the truth, and we have it, so shouldn’t we give it to them? They probably don’t realize they are believing lies, until someone points that out to them. And no, I can’t imagine a Baptist suddenly saying, “I’m sorry, I will convert to Catholicism now!” But, I CAN imagine one gradually seeing that Catholicism is the one true faith, and finallyl becoming Catholic. It happens all the time. In fact, I am a former Protestant and just recently came into the church. Thank God there are some Catholics who love the faith enough to be public about it and show that it is true.

Do you know how much of a bad impression that puts on Christians? People have their own beleifs and it is wrong to intrude. I have to deal with having relatives who are methodists, and I have an Aunt, Uncle, and their two young twin daughters who are Russian Orthodox, and on my other side of the family I have an Aunt who is Mormon (she was raised Catholic I have no idea why she converted) an Uncle who is an atheist, their 11 year old son named Nikki who has an utter disrespect and lack of knowledge toward God (he is not a punk though, he is a nice jocky kid who I talk to all the time) and he is Christian, a 13 yeare old cousin named Kirsten that is a WICCAN and their 5 year old son who could care less. They go to a Church of Latter-day saints.
And we all get along just fine. We have a huge family, and we dont convert each other. We currently keep in touch with each other, and we cant wait to go to New Jersy every summer and visit wityh that one family I was talking about that goes to the LDS church.
This is quite wrong. Read Dominus Iesus for instance. We are to convert the world. Read JP II’s letter on the New Evangelizatoin. We are to evangelise. You are indifferentist. The Catholic Church is the fullness of the truth and to deny someone that truth is not to love them but only to cater to our own desire to be liked. We are to preach the Gospell in season and out of season, which means whether it is recieved or not. It’s not just about getting along it is about salvation of souls and bringing people to the sacraments which Christ institued for their salvatoin. You need to examine what you are saying. Do you really believe what the Catholic Church teaches. If you do you must go out and tell the world. You must not hide your light under a bushel basket.

By the way, I know of at least 4 baptists (one was my wife and the other my mother in law) that in time I helped convert to the Catholic faith. Two happened to be on baptist board. The now post over at phatmass. So you speak what you do not know.

Blessings

I just tried to register at the BaptistBoard.com Forums and I was rejected! I can’t believe it…
OLD NEWS!

We had this stated many times on various threads. I was rejected last year too.

So much for being open minded and spreading their faith with everyone?

I would say this is typical of Baptists. Of course they do have a right to discreminate on their baord, it is still a mostly free country last time I checked. Catholics ban non-Catholics from communion too so it must be fair play. Perhaps it’s thier way of getting even with Christ, His body, His Catholic Church?

Well, for example in the case of CARM they have a Catholic forum. In the case of the Baptist Board they have an Other Christian Denominations forum. It’s perfectly reasonable for Catholics to go to such forums. I know about the Baptist Board rejection of Catholics because they kicked me off a couple of years ago, along with most of the other Catholics there. Their motto is “The Truth Shall Set You Free”. They lived by their motto – we Catholics told the Catholic truth and they in turn set us free. 😃
Dave Armstrong has some lively exchanges with CARM members/moderators on his website! Here is just one link:
ic.net/~erasmus/RAZ420.HTM
It seems like many of the people on his “anti-Catholic list” have posted at CARM:
ic.net/~erasmus/RAZ450.HTM

I’ve found that CARM is pretty accurate on most of their reports on cults and other religious movements within christianity, especially regarding the shepherds chapel. i did however hit the roof when i saw the report on roman catholicism. but i believe they are entitled to their opinion even if they are wrong. live and let live i say.

non-denominational…that is pretty good!

I have had good experiences on thechristiandefense.com/

They are pretty open for discussion, you will find good debate and they have some great representatives for the Catholic faith. I wish I hadn’t limited my time on the computer to be able to still post there, but my kids needed more time with me. We could use more people defending the faith over there.

I tried to get on that board and was rejected as well,I wasn’t going to convert it was the lies about the Church I wanted to clarify:nope: The anti-Catholic sites get me soooo irritated especially when they do not allow rebutle.I have often wished I could set up a bait forum called for those who want to bash Catholics.com:nope: And have the Catholic troops waiting for them to enter:clapping: sigh just a dream;)

I just tried to register at the BaptistBoard.com Forums and I was rejected! I can’t believe it. Obviously I made the mistake of listing Catholic as my religion. I can’t believe it. I wanted to post in the “Other Christian Denominations” forum. They were dissing Catholics and Salvation but there was even one Catholic on there who defended us. How did she ge approved?

Enough ranting… Can anyone recommend popular forums where we can evangelize through apologetics?
Try registering as Ruthenian or Maronite – they may not be aware that those are rite of the RC church.
Or, taking a leaf from George Carlin who said “The Catholic Church is the only the church.” sign in as a theist 🙂

Maybe you could register as a member of The First Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ! 😃 After all, it’s the truth!

That board is something else I tell ya. I noticed once last fall, they were ‘ganging’ up on a Catholic, and then that one got banned, and wanted another Catholic to come on and defend (it was how we idolized Mary - yea, right, anyway) But how can we come on and defend when they won’t let us register, then ban us if we get through? It’s a sad sight. One of the moderators there even said that Catholics weren’t even Christians, when I read that, I just stopped reading that sight.

Sadly, this is all rather typical of the general Baptist attitude towards Catholics.

I have a Catholic friend who married a girl who was Baptist, but converted before the wedding. Luckily, he was pretty well grounded in his faith and she went through an excellent RCIA program. It prepared them for when her father sat them both down and said straight out to her “You know that I firmly believe that if you convert to Catholicism, you are going to hell.” Well, that was a short conversation, but thanks to the grace of God through time, the family is very accepting now and the Catholic couple is very joyously Catholic!

Peace,
javelin

Yeah they rejected me too a while back, but I really don’t care because anyone who wants to remain that ignorant is welcome to it.

As for boards where Catholics can do their thing and are welcome. There are a couple:
groups.yahoo.com/group/catholicismvsfundamentalism/
christianforums.com/index.php
watershedmovement.com/forum/index.php
fcnforums.christianity.com/loginflat.aspx

None are as good as CAF, but these are okay. The top one is one that I just have joined and the fundies there are about as lame as I’ve ever seen, and the mods are a joke though they did just pop a guy’s hand for saying “papal bullshit”. The charity is sort of thin sometimes.
None of these people have a clue what they are talking about when it comes to Catholicism.
Pax vobiscum,

I heartily agree Thessolonian with your above post. We all must plant the seed. Yes, sometimes it might not bear fruit until many years later, but the seed was planted nevertheless by us!!! I believe we Catholics must share the Truth of our Catholic Faith with Prots. Many are searching inside, and we might transform their lives–well should I say be an instrument of God in transforming their lives–not hide our faith under a bushel thinking “God only converts…so why even try?”…

Let’s folks. I say get on those Prot. boards and let people hear from us! IF we can of course or have the energy!

I do evangelization in other Protestant forums like faithcommunitynetwork.com/. They have a limited number of topics for Catholic/Protestant discussion. Try faithcommunitynetwork.com/Catholic_Discussion_Index/m_1642/tm.htm The Catholics could use a little help in the Eucharist forum

About 2 years ago they did a house cleaning of us Catholics. I was a member there and got the boot for promoting Catholic theology. There were about 10 others. Now they don’t let Catholics on. It was kind of a fun board though and we did win at least two Protestants over to the truth.
There are way too many people out there spreading theological feces about the Catholic Church to Evangelize (unfortunatley many of them are “Catholic priests”). Evangelization is open only to those who wish to recieve it. I stay away from Evangelical and Baptist forums just because I already know what they’re going to contain.

I never said there was anything wrong about spreading the truth. What is wrong is barging in on people and critizing their beleifs and then promoting yours. I have converted some people but by telling them about God and Jesus and His works. My best friend has a big brother who was a Satanist. No, he wasnt a Satanist, he was of the EVIL religion! Satanists do not beleive in God. He did, he accepted that He was all-powerful, and all knowing ect. but he was just acting like a… (well, this is a catholic forum so i wont say anything) who dressed up all gothic thinking he was all cool being the black sheep and whatnot. Well, one day he started making me very mad, so I reasoned with him. “You know, God does love you.” “No he doesn’t! Then why am I always so depressed? Why am I always getting into fights?” I answered him, “Because you do not beleive in Him. If you do then He will help you.” “Aww, beep you.” he said. I then came back at him, really mad, and decided to giv ehim the fire and brimstone speach. “You know, what you are doing is not funny or cool. You do not beleive in God. You KNOW you do not truly worship Satan, you just do that to act all different from your religious Catholic family. Do you beleive that there is a God?” He looked down. “Why do you care?” I answered “Because I like to spread teh truth. I take pride in my faith. Unlike you. Do you even want ot defend your religion to me?” He looked at me. “Whatever. I’ll read from the bible just to make you happy.” Well, he came back the next day, and came up to me. “I don’t understand heads or tails of that beep. I want to go to hell. You can go the heaven for all I care. See ya loser.” I am proud to defend my wonderful Catholic religion, but because of incidents like these I do not go around converting people. I always answer questions directed toawrds me, and if people are dissing my religion online, I jump right to it. However, some thick-skulled people like these need to find Christ by themselves. I can bet you any money that when he grows up, he will see the Truth and learn to accept Christ. The Christian religion is the biggest spiritualism in the whole world. And it gains more converts every year. And do you know why? Online. Books. Television. Friends. They dont convert just by seeing a priest come up to their door and saying “I have the Truth.” and preach. No, they find the Grace of the Holy Spirit through all of those things mentioned earlier, NOT from strangers.

I was a Baptist before I became a Catholic twelve years ago, and I am not surprised about anything that I have read in this thread in regards to that Baptist affiliated message board. Baptists can be very unreasonable and hypocritical.
