Recently when I went to Mass someone asked me if I’d be able to help someone else with the tithe collections.I said no because I dont know how to it.Now that I think about it I feel kind of bad.I mean I remember once that they asked my mom the same thing at another Church and she did it.Basically you just put the collection basket politely close to the parishoners, right?.The reasons I did’nt do it is because I did’nt know which way I suppose to go (sometimes it’s just down a row and other times I’ve noticed you have to kind of go around),I did’nt know how I was suppose to put in my tithing if I were to do that (just place it in before collecting others?) and also at that moment I was saying my penance. Was me doing this bad?.Thank you for your time.

Yes, don’t worry about it. You didn’t feel prepared to do this and so took a pass on it. That’s fine. If you would like to help take the collection in the future talk to one of the regulars who does it and get all the info, or just observe very closely for a few Sundays if you can see everything. Then let whoever’s in charge know that from now on you’re willing to do it if they could use your help.

Yea you’re fine. I was offered it once and said yes mainly because I was caught off guard. :o I wasn’t looking forward to it, but it is quite hard to do wrong. People don’t tend to pay you much attention during it as well, so it isn’t too bad. They tell you what rows to take at the time.
