Well, what seemed dark and hopeless just months ago with regard to me becoming Catholic feels like a new dawn. I met with Fr. this morning to discuss my baptism and I was pleased to discover that as I was baptised when I was 17 I won’t have to be baptised again, obviously. Fr. was very reassuring about my husband being Anglican and encouraged me that we wouldn’t be so far apart and that it may well draw us closer.

The real kicker is my husband, who has been so opposed to the idea of my becoming Catholic in the past is talking in glowing terms about how different I am when I have been to Mass and happily committed to taking me to 5pm Mass weekly as long as I commit to taking the children to church with him on Sundays. He is also letting me teach them to pray Catholic prayers and is much, much softened towards the whole thing.

Praise God with me! He is good!

So happy to hear your good news. 😃 Prayers today for continued advancements like this for you and your family. 👍

Should have said, I will become a catechumen on Dec 10th. I’ve wanted this since I was 7 years old but was too afraid because of the disapproval of others, either atheists or serious minded protestants, and I am finally, at the age of 40, going through with it. Bless God for His mercy in giving me those 33 years to get over my fears.

God moves us and we respond as we are able to–he knows that. 😉

A small thing–you are a candidate because you are baptized. If were unbaptized you’d be a catechumen. 😉 I too was baptized before being received into the Church–I had been Episcopalian. 🙂

Ah, gotcha. It’s called the catechumenate mass, hence my assumption. I was so thrilled when the priest said there were no impediments to my becoming Catholic. Candidate it is. 🙂

In many RCIA programs they put all those to be received into the Church into one class, making no distinctions between catechumen and candidate, you see. If I haven’t yet expressed it, congratulations on your having a clear road into the Church. God bless you richly and your family, too. 😃
