Relationship Age Differences: How much is too much?

I guess a couple of thoughts come to mind.

It may be that they are good friends, and neither intends to marry; they just like each other’s company.

Assuming they are not engaged in extra marital sex, I am not sure I see the issue. People can be friends without having to fall into bed, in spite of the fact that the media tells us that is the only conclusion possible with a friendship.

It may be that she is not mature enough to marry, or that she has some emotional problem that prevents her from marrying someone close to her own age; to which, I guess I would say, what is the point fo breaking them up? To send her in that state to someone younger?

And if she is mature enough to be able to make the decision to marry, and is not emotionally troubled, then isn’t the decision hers?

Some theories hold that St. Joseph may have been a good deal older than the Virgin Mary (it is commonly believed she was a teenager at the time of her betrothal). While such large age differences may be remarkable because of their rarity, such rarity in and of itself doesn’t prove abnormality.
