I’ve never posed one of these before, so sorry if I’ve done this wrong.
So I’m dating a boy. We try to keep our relationship as pleasing to God as we can, we exercise chastity, and pray for it often. We pray and go to mass together regularly. We have been dating for a year, and it has honestly been the best year of my life. I have grown so much and improved my relationship with God so much. But over the last month things have really been falling apart. He has been getting way more involved with work, which I understand, but it has become his whole life (his work involves God lots, so it is bringing his life closer to God) Even when we watch a movie or have dinner together he’s constantly focused on work. I really want to support him with it, but I’m starting to feel as if I don’t matter to him and he doesn’t have any time for me and as though we’re just forcing our relationship. I really believe that I love him and could see him being a great husband/ father in the future. What should I do?

I don’t have any actual “advice”, since I can see many of the mistakes I’ve made in my life. Think of this as more of, something to think about.

I would suggest that you talk to him. Let him know that you aren’t feeling valued right now. He might be surprised by that. You might be surprised by his response. A good relationship ALWAYS has good and open communication. Before you have the conversation, make sure you are “in a good place” mentally so that you can be calm while discussing this with him.

Depending on the outcome of the conversation, you may have to decide if you can live with the amount he works. I once had a man interested in dating me that I didn’t go out with because I thought he worked too much (we were friends). I didn’t want to end up with a work-a-holic. In hindsight, I think I missed out on a great man (no idea if we would have married, but he was certainly marriage material) because I was hung up on the fact that he loved his work.

The only REAL advice I can offer is: pray about it in general, and specifically before you have the conversation with him.
