Please forgive me if I’m posting this in the wrong forum-- I wasn’t sure what to do and since this isn’t exactly a faith question I wasn’t sure where to put it. D:

I go to public school currently for highschool. I find it hard to associate with most people there because of the way they act and treat themselves and others. They just aren’t the type of people I prefer to be around, so I just pray for them in hopes they may find their way back to God one day.

Anyways, one of my parents teaches at a private school. She has a student in her class that is about 2 years older than me, and I’ve recently considered at least being friends with them or maybe starting some sort of relationship. I know I’m still at an early age in my life, but I know people meet their spouses or even a best friend at a wide variety of ages. I talk to her students every now and then, and once I get to know them more, if everything works out right, they are the kind of person I might want to start a relationship with, as we have a lot in common. I know it sounds silly, but I’ve always prayed about meeting the right person, and I just have had this weird feeling in my conscience that I can’t ignore. I just don’t want to mess anything up.

So I mainly made this to ask- would it be weird to pursue this as I’m young and they are my mom’s student, or should I just keep praying and try my hardest to see if something works out?

I am just honestly confused and could use some unbiased guidance.
God bless,

Alice

I don’t know how old you are, but if you are in high school you really aren’t too young. My wife and I met when we were 16 and 17. Some friends of ours dated since middle school and are married now and other friends dated all through high school. Get to know the people. If it’s right, God will help you out with figuring it out!👍

Can’t hurt to become friends with them. Just don’t rush things and take the time to get to know them before you get in real deep 😉

👍 Agreed. You are not too young, but take your time. My opinion anyway. You might want to talk to your mom about the situation, if you feel you can.

Im currently going into 10th grade soon and i think they will be a senior, so I am honestly not sure here.

I considered telling my mom, but i figured i don’t want it to be awkward for her.

I suppose I should just pray and try my hardest, but in the end just let God unfold his plans

You need to speak about this with your parents. 🙂

Consider acting with God on this one and not just praying without action; talk to your Mom if at all possible… My opinion…

I agree. One thing to consider though, if it doesn’t work out, that student might feel awkward in your mother’s class. School is almost out for the summer, why not wait until then to start a friendship? Just a thought.
