Hi all,
I posted this in another forum but my question was not really answered and I got some conflicting info… I am interested in buying or making a reliquary for my collection of first class relics and I am wondering if there is such a product on the market or if you have any ideas how to make one? I am thinking of something like a wooden display box with twelve cubbies (I am going to collect 12 relics overall) with glass or plexiglass windows on them. Do you know if a priest will need to bless it? Most reliquaries I see are for just one relic and I need a combo one for my whole relic collection.

Thanks in advance!

I’ve seen a number of such constructions in Israel, although not with 12 parts.

Since I imagine these items are very small, you could use brass pipe fittings with glass lenses in them to hold the relics, and then screw these into circular holes in the wood. You’d probably need to get the glass lenses made.

The shape of the wooden “body” allows many choices. You could use a flat circle, or a dodecagon, or a rectangle. Or even a wooden cube, with a corner truncated so it will stand cattycornered, and put 2 of the glass receptacles into each side!

Shalom, ICXC NIKA
