Blood, hair, or bones?

Are they giving away bits of her body?!
May I ask what Saint or Blessed you are talking about? Also, are you Catholic since devotion to relics of Saints is normal for Catholics???

Hello everyone, I would like to share with you the brief life story of the Servant of God Arch. Teofilo Camomot.

He was born in Carcar, Cebu, Philippines on March 3, 1914. Ordained a priest in 1940, he was named auxuliary bishop of Jaro, Philippines in 1955. He was a humble priest known for his charity and love for the poor. People attest to this but I will share with you two of such stories. Since he never really want to condemn people, even criminals, one time he experienced being robbed inside the parish rectory. When he caught up with the thief who was on his way to jump off a window, he told him: “Please don’t jump off the window, take the flight of stairs instead.” Another example of his extraordinary charity. During Vatican II, he went to Rome with other Philippine bishops. Since at that time, the popular mode of transportation was to take a ship, he rode in one but took the lowest class — which was not only the cheapest but also noisy since it is close to the engine. When he reached Rome, whatever money he had he gave away to the gypsies so that he was unable to buy a red chasuble fit for the occasion. When he attended the meeting of the different Council Fathers, other Filipino bishops got uncomfortable with what he wore – it was actually his old white chasuble which he merely dyed in red. It didn’t appear red in that case because it was actually a shade of pink. Out of pity for their fellow Filipino bishop, the other bishops chipped in some money and bought the right chasuble for Msgr. Camomot. They bought it themselves because they feared that if they will give him the money, he will once again give it away to the poor. Archbishop Camomot was later named coadjutor archbishop of Cagayan de Oro, Philippines but despite the fact that he had the right of succession, he never ascended to the office. He later returned to his native Cebu where he died a violent death – a car collision – on Sept. 27, 1988. God blessed Arch. Camomot so that he performed several miracles in his lifetime and more miracles today now that he can just do it often in heaven. Please pray for his cause.

PRAYER FOR THE PROCESS OF THE BEATIFICATION OF THE SERVANT OF GOD BISHOP TEOFILO B. CAMOMOT”

Almighty and ever-living God, it was your grace and the love of you that made your servant, TEOFILO CAMOMOT, devote his life as priest and bishop, a life of self-abnegation, constant prayer and generous love for the poor and the needy. Grant that his virtues provide a lasting
example for all and merit the approval of the Church that he be raised to the altars.

As a sign of your benevolence to your servant’s cause, we humbly implore you to bestow upon us this favor…(mention your request)
In the name of Jesus, our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, God forever and ever. Amen.

(Then recite one Our Father, Hail Mary and Glory be.)

Hi.
The word relic comes from the Latin reliquiae, meaning “remains” or “something left behind” (the same root as relinquish). Do not be shocked if you have seen relics that are parts of the hair, bone or blood. They are the “real” relics, because it is their MORTAL REMAINS… They are called first class relics.( Also, there are second class relics, which cames from their personal belongings…) They get the hair or whatever part of their body after they are named blessed, their remains could be exhumed. ( with the exception of some relics of blesseds or saints, like Pope John Paul’s blood, it was taken when he was alive )
The nun, Teresa…Mother Teresa.
Yes, I do understand the devotion of relics thing.
I clicked on the link provided by the OP, saying one could get a relic…and was shocked to discover that a relic could include parts of her body. But I wasn’t certain if I was reading the link correctly, that’s why I asked.

Also, if so…I am trying to figure out…how would this group that advertises on the internet, or the Postulator in the office in Rome or India, actually attain her hair, bones, or blood?

Get it from the hospital before she dies? (that seems pretty illegal, except for cutting some hair…)
Go to the morgue after she passes away?

Do you know?

PRAYER FOR DIVINE GUIDANCE IN THE PROCESS OF
BEATIFICATION AND CANONIZATION OF THE SERVANT OF GOD
MOTHER FRANCISCA DEL ESPIRITU SANTO DE FUENTES, O.P.,
Foundress of the Dominican Sisters of St. Catherine of Siena (O.P.)

God, Father Almighty, in Your infinite wisdom You have willed that Your servant Francisca del Espiritu Santo de Fuentes be the foundress of a Filipina religious congregation. She believed in You with her whole being, she hoped for the perfection of Your plan, and she loved You in imitation of Your incarnate Son. In trials and in penance she persevered and was purified. An instrument of Your ineffable holiness, Francisca del Espiritu Santo de Fuentes touched so many lives and continues to edify Your Filipino people.

If it is in accord with Your plans, let the present ecclesial inquiry into the causes of her beatification and canonization lead to the triumph of Your grace. Let the recognition of her sanctity be a proof of Your guidance. Let her beatification and canonization be yet another outpouring of Your love to Your chosen people in the far east and an added blessing to the Universal Church. In the power of Your Holy Spirit, who filled the heart of the Servant of God Francisca del Espiritu Santo de Fuentes, let the canonical proceedings be successfully carried out, so that at the end we all can sing: Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit. Amen.

New Prayer for Canonization of Scotus and Newman
From the recent Scotus-Newman conference:

Prayer to Obtain the Canonization of
Bl. John Henry Newman (1801-1890) and
Bl. John Duns Scotus (1265-1308)

Heavenly Father, the two great Oxford scholars, Bl. John Duns Scotus and Bl. John Henry Newman, spent their lives in the service of Holy Mother Church and the salvation of souls. With courageous loyalty to the truth and exemplary obedience to the Church they sought to show how best to sanctify the intellect in the pursuit of holiness and wisdom. The insights of Bl. John Duns Scotus into the mystery of divine love and the Incarnation, his profound understanding of and devotion to the Immaculate Virgin Mother, his defense of the Holy Eucharist and the Church; the sage counsels of Bl. John Henry on living our faith in a radically secularized world and his deeply moving illustrations of our hope inspire us to ask you, the Giver of all good gifts, to grant that these two great examples of Christian virtue and learning might soon be counted among the Saints to be imitated by the faithful.

Through the intercession of Bl. Scotus we ask you for this favor….

Through the intercession of Bl. Newman we ask you for this favor….

In all this, may we learn to speak “heart to heart” with Jesus through Mary and pass from “shadows and images into the Truth”, your Son and our Savior, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen

Please report any favors received from either Bl. Scotus or Bl. Newman to:

The Very Reverend James McCurry, OFMConv.
12300 Folly Quarter Rd.
Ellicott City, MD 21042

During exhumation process,(for some) they would detach a part of the body of the saint so that relics would be available for distribution. These will be sent to Rome.

Prayer for the Beatification http://http://www.paoline.org/pls/paoline/v3_s2ew_consultazione.mostra_pagina?id_pagina=6027

Most holy Trinity, we thank you for the singular gifts of light,
grace and virtue which you granted to Sister Thecla Merlo,
and we thank you for having chosen and constituted her
the wise mother and sure guide of the Daughters of St. Paul.

Through her intercession, grant that we may live of her great loves:
Jesus Master in the Holy Eucharist,
the Church, the Gospel and souls souls sought and served through evangelization
with the instruments of social communication to the point of total sacrifice.

O Lord, if it be in the design of your divine wisdom,
carry out even on this earth, for this very devoted Daughter of St. Paul,
your divine promise: “If anyone serves me, my father will honor him.”
Exalt this faithful servant to the joy of the Church
and the good of many souls and grant us, through her intercession,
the favor we ask of you.

Amen.

0 My God, I adore Your infinite Majesty with all the powers of my soul. I thank You for the graces and gifts which You did bestow upon Your faithful Servant Metropolitan Andrew Sheptytsky.

I ask You to glorify him also on earth with evident proofs and miracles. For this end I beseech You to give me the favor, which I humbly ask from Your Fatherly mercy…

Prayer for the Beatification and Canonization of Father John Hardon

Almighty God, You gave Your servant,
Father John Anthony Hardon of the Society of Jesus,
the grace of religious and priestly consecration after the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

Through Father Hardon,
You provided for your Flock an extraordinary teacher of the faith.

You entrusted Father Hardon into the loving
care of the Blessed Virgin Mary
whose counsel, “Do whatever he tells you” (Jn 2:5)
he faithfully followed and whose intercession he unceasingly invoked.

If it be Your holy will, please grant the request I now make,
calling upon the help of Father Hardon,
so that his heroic sanctity may be recognized in the whole Church.

I ask this through Your Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, Who
with You and the Holy Spirit, is one God forever and ever.
Amen.

Prayer for the
Cause of Canonization
of Fr. Walter Ciszek S.J.

We adore You, Most Holy Trinity, and we thank You for the exemplary life of Your Servant, Father Walter Ciszek. We pray that his strong faith in Your loving providence, his great love for You, and his kindness to all people be recognized by the Church. If it be Your Will, may he be given to us as a saintly model of these virtues so that we too may be better motivated to dedicate our lives to Your greater honor and glory. We commend our petition through the prayers of the Holy Mother of God. For to You, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, is due all glory, honor and worship, now and forever. Amen.

Prayer: Sainthood for Fr. Luigi Giussani

O Merciful Father, we thank You for having given your Church and the world the Servant of God, Fr. Luigi Giussani. He, with his life lived with passion, taught us to know and love Jesus Christ present here and now, to ask Him with humble certainty that “the beginning of every day be a yes to the Lord who embraces us and makes fruitful the soil of our heart for the accomplishment of His work in the world, which is the victory over death and evil.”
Grant, O Father, through the intercession of Fr. Giussani, according to your will, the grace we implore, in the hope that he will soon be numbered among your saints.
Through Christ, our Lord. Amen

Oh. I see.
But in Teresa’s case, she has not been exhumed…so then, do you know how they’d get a relic in that case?

Perhaps no “First Class” relics exist for her…
Is that possible?
Thought it looks like that website advertises as though they do…
1)The only first class relic I saw for Mother Teresa is her hair
hypothesis: maybe they got it from her things, eg: hair comb
  1. Yes it is possible that a relic is not available for some candidates
  2. ADVERTISE, in what context?
if its in the context of making it available for a donation, then i think it is fraud. Relics of Blessed/ Saints specially those who are well known are for use of the greater people and so needs to comply to some procedures like acquiring recommendation letter from the pastor of your diocese.
Death Rather than sin

DaddyGirl- I’m sorry I have to admit I’m a bit confused can you please state exactly where the Missionaries of Charity are distributing First Class Relics of Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta?

motherteresa.org/09_relics/RELICS.htm

I know the Missionaries of Charity explain the different classes/types of Relics but perhaps I’m missing where they are distributing First Class Relics of Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta.

DaddyGirl Well, perhaps the best person to give you the answers for all your concerns is to go right to the source. So, yes, send an email to the Missionaries of Charity or whomever you would like to ask about Relics and so forth.

In some cases, the family members of those who are up for Beatification or Canonization are still alive so no First Class Relics will be distributed such as St. Gianna Beretta Molla and Blessed Chiara Luce Badano. ← Of course, I could be totally wrong.

I also wanted to say that these Devotional items are not meant to be a collection such as baseball cards, hockey cards, or whatever the trading cards kids are collecting now-a-days 😃 But, they are what I’d like to call Heavenly Treasure’s and it does not really matter if one receives a First Class Relic or even a Third Class Relic or No Relic at all.

Remember, that the Saints are Praying and Interceding (helping) you, me, all of us.

All in all, DaddyGirl I Pray you get some answers for all of your concerns.

God bless,
