This weekend I had the incredible opportunity to pray in front of the relic of St. John Vianneys incorruptible heart and a 1st class relic of St. John Paul II’s blood. I touched my brown scapular and my rosary to the relic of St JP2. Are these items now 3rd class relics? And If so can I still wear this scapular all the time like I do now?

Lucky you. I wanted to go to that but for various reasons, particularly weather and the marches happening, it wasn’t possible so I am going for Valentine’s Day when St. John Vianney’s heart is supposed to be making a return visit. Maybe he can be my valentine, totally platonic of course.

If you touched your sacramentals directly to the relic of St JPII’s blood then yes, they are 3rd class relics now.

If you merely touched them to a reliquary containing the relic of St JPII’s blood then opinion is divided - some will say touching the reliquary was enough to make a 3rd class relic and some will say it’s not. I don’t think it really matters as your intent was to have a remembrance of the saint and you have accomplished that.

Yes you can wear the scapular all the time, in fact you should wear it. That’s how it’s meant to be used.
