I was wondering if anyone knew from whom I can specifically request certain relics (preferably first or second class) for personal devotion. I have received a first class relic of Blessed Bartolo Longo by chance and wrote to the Carmelite nuns of Lisiuex and just received a relic of her habit. I would like to have a first-class relic of my patron Saint, Maria Goretti, and I know you need to contact the Passionists in order to request one. I am in need of the address for them. If anyone can please help, it would mean so much.

Thanks, God Bless you all.

Are you looking to buy a relic or borrow one for a period of devotion and then return it?

You can’t buy relics.
🙂 I know. That’s why I was asking the question. I didn’t want to quote canon law if that was not the OP’s intention.
However, as you have pre-empted my next move here it is:

Can. 1190 §1 It is absolutely wrong to sell sacred relics.

§2 Distinguished relics, and others which are held in great veneration by the people, may not validly be in any way alienated nor transferred on a permanent basis, without the permission of the Apostolic See.

§3 The provision of §2 applies to images which are greatly venerated in any church by the people.

I am looking to recieve (not buy) or possibly borrow if need be. Someone please help.

It has been my understanding that 3rd and 4th class relics can be sold, correct?

Read my post #4. Canon Law does not say its only forbidden to sell 1st and 2nd class relics. It says it is forbidden to sell relics.

Whatever Canon law says, the fact remains that there is a HUGE business in buying and selling relics.

Then a sin is being committed because we are not only bound by the Church teachings but we are also bound by Canon law.

yes --unfortunately! if only they would listen to the Church…

but many are not even Catholics and see them as antique…and there are many that make a fake relic and then sell them online!

it is sad…

but many Churches have relics for veneration …such as shrines…so go visit and pray and honor the saint …

its hard to get first class relic of st maria goretti specially if its just for private devotion. i knew some passionist people. i also have third class relics of her 🙂 im happy you received a first class relic. me i never had a first class relic
