If you hate me so much then put me on ignore - the only trouble is you have to log in for it to work, and I keep forgetting. But please don’t stalk me, you’re freaking me out. And for heaven’s sake lighten up, no one expects the Spanish Inquisition (if you know Monty Python).
Oh, my goodness – I didn’t expect the Spanish Inquisition!

*The following statements made by you are a selection from those that throw doubt on your allegiance to Christianity:
  1. You have reported me for telling lies about you and now you object to the fact that I am defending myself against a false accusation which could get me banned!
  2. “I’ve not yet seen any reasoned argument for preferring one system of morality to the exclusion of all others on this or any other thread” is not a remark one would expect from a Christian…

The fact that you have reported me whereas I have not reported you suggests that the hatred is **on your part **not mine. I’m rather fond of you but I dislike your aggressive attitude and the sarcastic remarks like “put me on ignore - the only trouble is you have to log in for it to work, and I keep forgetting”…
And for heaven’s sake lighten up, no one expects the Spanish Inquisition (if you know Monty Python).
That statement seems to bear out the impression that you are here to criticise the Catholic Church… and I am the one who has been reported to the authorities, not you!

You’re one of the most civilized posters I know, all I want is to discuss stuff on its merits without insinuations. Could we both just back off from the brink here, bury the hatchet, and get back to how we used to be in those halcyon days before our respective red mists set in?

As Marge Simpson says “Let’s never mention this again”. And I won’t if you won’t, which sounds a bit playground, but hopefully you agree.

So the last few days are behind us, as far as east is from west, done and dusted, agreed?

Thanks bro, that was more than gracious.

Nosotros pocos, nosotros felizmente pocos, nosotros, una banda de hermanos;

Shakespeare got the day wrong though, hoy es día de Santa Lucía.

Granny, you are unduly pessimistic in saying “a few others.” All Christians accept the Nicene Creed.
There is a 5,000 year old scripture/book which is relayed by GOD. He explains all your questions of Creation, Liberation, Salvation and Redemption. It is known as the Science of GOD.

Long, long has been the times when the Roman Catholic Church supressed its knowledge and release to the common peoples of this world. I’m sure the destruction, possession and control of this Science occurred during the sacking and burning by early Christians of all the religious colleges of Alexandria.

Even poor Galileo tried to study the Science of GOD, and we know what happened for his efforts…there is a Science of GOD…why could we imagine GOD would create us and leave no instructions for our beings and how we should live our lives? What we need to accomplish as humanity to return to Him? GOD would never be so irresponsible to His Children…it is called the Bhagavad-gita (the translation of sanskrit to direct english is best understood in the titled Bhagavad-gita AS IT IS)…

If none are threatened by GOD’s Absolute Truth through His Science of Creation and our responsibilities as Humanity…read it.

One of the most stirring soliloquies ever written!

inocente

For me the main problem with the book was the very poor quality of the arguments compared to his earlier work, no more than wishful thinking.

This is where your slip is showing again.

When one approaches death, as Flew was doing in his eighties and at the time of writing There Is a God, what in God’s name would be wrong with wishful thinking?

And why do you object to the power of his writing, when as a Baptist you should also be objecting to the poor quality of the arguments he formerly used to advance atheism?

I havwn’t heard about a “science of God.” Can you please explain this some more?

Francis S. Collins, head of the Genome Project, like flew became an atheist in his teens. By his own account, science brought him back to God, as apparently it also did to some extent with Flew.

Science of God is theology, the queen of all sciences.

Correct, but science did not bring him back to a literalist reading of the Genesis creation story about Adam, Eve, and the talking snake.

Can you explain how “science of God” is like “science of chemistry”? Does it emply the testing of hypotheses against evidence? Or are you using “science” analogously?

Me gusta escribir en castellano pero alguien puede quejarse - sobre todo si no lo entiende!

If unorthodox ideas had not been declared heretical there would be even more confusion than there is now! Aryans and Montanists would belong to the Church and no one would know what to believe… and probably depart in disgust. 🙂

From the Catechism of the Catholic Church.

**416 By his sin Adam, as the first man, lost the original holiness and justice he had received from God, not only for himself but for all human beings.

417 Adam and Eve transmitted to their descendants human nature wounded by their own first sin and hence deprived of original holiness and justice; this deprivation is called “original sin”. **

Nowhere does the Catechism suggest that Adam and Eve are a metaphor for 10,000 human beings who started the human race. But even if that metaphor were granted, there is no warrant to argue that more than one couple committed the first sin at the very same moment in time. Adam and Eve are the names given to that first offending couple by the author of Genesis. Should they have been given other names, like George and Martha? Or a mathematical number, like 10,000?

And if the Devil is not a snake, how else might we better metaphorically describe him? The snake is universally treated as a threat to the well being of humans, a threat with one deadly strike.

No tengo ganas de derramar mi sangre pero desde luego si es absolutamente preciso lo hare!

It is ironic that the feast of St Lucy is still celebrated in Sweden, the country which now has the highest percentage of atheists in the world… No doubt they are the victims of their own material success.
