Religion, do you think there will ever be peace?

As long as Original Sin exists, people will do rotten things. As long as rationalization exists, people will excuse their doing rotten things by appealing to some motivation that sounds better than the reality. Patriotism, “my rights”, religion, “it’s just business”, often serve that purpose.

Therefore, I don’t think there will ever be peace until Jesus returns. No, I don’t.

I have studied Near Death Experences for approx. 25 years, and many of them talk about the lack of LOVE in this world, even that few people are trying unconditional love, with not judging others, and knocking down other religions. None of the religions I know of are completely free of judgement and of fighting others, of other religions. The NDE’s talk about us being in the end times, and us being in quite a mess of things. Our religions have be used as wepons against each other. An example is how people been trying to knock down the Mormon church, like this year has been the worst for the Latter Day Saints, with the DVD and “The Mormons” on PBS. If we are to win over the whole LDS church and others, we must use Unconditional LOVE, not judging others, must practice Unconditional LOVE, to LOVE one another, the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit.

According to the NDE accounts, we have a long ways to go to achieve Unconditional LOVE, and it can not be through the concept of I’m right and your wrong, it just does not work. So pick up the Tools of Unconditional Love, and not the “I’m Right and Your Wrong” stuff.

I have been a member of the Latter Day Saints for much of my life(1971 till now), and I know it is a somewhat messed up church, but I still go there, but to see how the many peoples, have been attacking it, shows a lack of love. The right tools are though the Holy Spirit and not heart pumping adrenaline, type of winning over people from the OTHER(wrong) churches.

The other board that has been seeing activity like in this NON-CATHOLIC Religions Forum here, is the Mormon Apologetics Dot ORG site. Many people are tearing up that place.

Sorry about my approch with this POST of mine here, but this post is from my heart, and what I have learned, about the brokeness of this world we live in.

There could never be peace on Earth, unless people throughout the world started practicing the kind of forgiveness, mercy and love that Jesus Christ prescribed. But that won’t happen without communion between mankind and God. Many of us can’t even get along with members of our own family, and have antagonistic, even murderous thoughts about other people we come across in daily life. So why should we think that peace among the religions will happen?

Hi
Elijah (Idris) went alongwith his chariot and horses riding wind to the skies; the Jews , the Christian and the TaditionalMuslims believe this alright.
He was to descend from the skies before JesusYeshuaIssa’s first arrival. Did it happen?
Jews don’t believe it ever happened.
This is related to " when Jesus comes!"
Thanks
I am an Ahmadi – a peaceful faith in Islam bridging gaps between faiths/denominations/religions/agnostics
The West, as I understand, due to certain disinformation has seen only MullahIslam or MullahShariah; the true face of Muhammad’sIslam and PromisedMessiahImamMahdi’sIslam is yet hidden from their eyes, which is truly speaking only peaceful.
GodAllahYHWH is All-Knowing; one should invariably give Claim and Reason on all important issues from one’s Revealed Book; one shouldn’t try putting one’s own words into God’s mouth.
Hi Paarsurrey,
I’m not quite sure what your point is; please elaborate.

Hi
I would give 2/3 passages for elaboration from an article which could be for details accessed from: alislam.org/library/books/revelation/part_7_section_1.html
“A Christ should have come to the aid of the Jewish people and did come but it was not the same Christ they were awaiting, so they failed to recognize him. They expected him to appear with a crown over his head seated on a royal throne. He would be a warrior Messiah, they believed, who would successfully lead the armies of the Israelites against the despotic rule of the Roman Empire. Two thousand years have passed since their rejection of Jesusas as Messiah, yet no Messiah of their expectation has come. History has changed the political geography of the world and the prophecy of the coming of the Christ has lost all relevance. There is no Judea or Palestine under the yoke of a Roman Empire from which the Jewish people are to be liberated. In fact, that Roman Empire which once ruled half of the world has completely disappeared from the map of the world. We still hear of deliverance, but it is a deliverance from the Jews, not of the Jews.
Although there was nothing wrong in their belief that Christ would be born like any other human child to a human mother, yet they attached some supernatural preconditions to his birth which could not have been realized. Their belief about the bodily descent of Elijahas before the advent of the Messiah, is just the case in point which effectively blocked the passage of the Messiah they awaited. So the Jewish position, vis-à-vis the advent of a Messiah, in reality turns out to be a denial of his advent altogether.
URNING OUR GAZE from the Jews to the Christians, we find a situation not too dissimilar to the one described above. Imagine a Christ paying a second visit to earth in the grand style envisaged by the Christians who still await his literal second coming. A son of God descending in glory from heaven in a human form is an idea fit only for fiction, yet it serves to keep hope, or shall we say blind faith, alive. Looking at it from the rational vantage point of the non-Christian, the absurdity becomes even more glaring. No non-Christian, be he religious or otherwise, can share this belief because it speaks of an outrageous wedlock between spirit and matter. Yet the Christians see no element of irrationality about it because dogma has blinded them.
The same anomaly of the Jews and the Christians applies to the unreal and supernatural expectations of the followers of all other religions. Even a speck of irrationality in the beliefs of others offends their sense of right and wrong, while they are totally blind to the presence of the same in their own, however preposterous it may be. They could not have failed to detect the squint of their own eyes, if only they had looked at themselves through the eyes of others. Rationality would have helped each of them to realize that the literal revisit to earth by any prophet or so-called god is illogical. Never has it taken place at any time, anywhere in the entire history of the world, nor can it ever take place in the future. Never was the founder of any religion sighted to have descended from on high; he always appeared through the normal course of human birth. Invariably, he launched a movement that had to strive hard for its survival against all odds. This is reality; any belief that does not conform to this must be relegated to the realms of fantasy. All such promises for the revival of religion must be rejected which offend rationality and have never before been employed by God in religious history.”

Thank you for the reply. But I hope you realize that I don’t take articles with quotes as " A son of God descending in glory from heaven in a human form is an idea fit only for fiction, yet it serves to keep hope, or shall we say blind faith, alive" too seriously.

Hi,
After reading here for a while, and the thought has often come to my mind…
Do you think religion(s) will ever find peace between them?
What are your thoughts?
Personally, i dont see it happening in my lifetime.
🤷
In my opinion, there can only be religious and ideological peace when people understand that there can never be One Faith, One Path that is right for everyone. Nature is diverse, and the forms that human relationship with the divine can take are innumerable. It is only the greatest foolishness to think that any one method can be right for all people.

In my opinion, it is the quest for One Truth for All that has been the single greatest source of religious conflict and oppression. There’s room in the world for all ways, as long as some sects don’t demand an inappropriate exclusivity.

Seems like the Mormon church has that problem, and even they lay claim to Ephesians Chapter 4, where they claim exclusivity to ONE LORD, ONE FAITH, and ONE BAPTISM.

As long as we all have FREE WILL, there will always be many belief systems, in that some of them claim exclusivity as the only true church.

God is not about coercion or “submission”, God is about choice. He wants us to CHOOSE the right way of things. A coerced choice is not a true choice. It is only logical. This is the easiest way to know that Islam is false and heretical, because Islam is all about force and coercion. Of course, there are many other reasons to reject the Islam heresy, but that’s good for starters.

As to the topic question ~ it is hard to say. So many have fragmented the Body of Christ because of their own vanity, which includes Muhammed & all of Islam, but also includes so many others, that it is hard to determine how ONE body and therefore ONE peace can be achieved. I would hope and pray for an awakening to the truth, and perhaps even all the latest Muslim world violence, which is OBVIOUSLY not from God, will actually propel some to see the truth, including some of the Muslims.

But I fear I remain with many others who have opined here ~ I think unity and peace will only be achieved with the return of our Lord. Only He can draw us all back together and achieve peace. Our Lord is about peace, it is the human race that, in their ego, has brought about war and violence.

Laws are definitely needed in order to govern society and indeed all of humanity.

To the Christians who are saying that Jesus (pbuh) will return to rule the world, I need to ask:

When Jesus returns, will he be establishing new laws in order to rule over humanity… or… will he be using Mosaic law with which he was familiar with some 2,000 years ago?

Choosing submission is a choice. Just as choosing to live one’s life in accordance with Jewish or Islamic law is a choice. There is no greater freedom of choice than in chosing to obey God.

Laws? Read Paul’s letters concerning law. Tim

Getting back to the actual question of whether or not there will be peace between religions, I think the answer is no.

I don’t think that their will ever be peace in this world because, as humans, we are incapable of truly loving others. No matter how hard we try to fulfill Jesus’ greatest command of loving others as we love ourselves, we fail.

Some of the reasons that I believe we, as humans fail to love one another are:
  1. We feel superior to others in some way
  2. We are all to some degree, selfish
  3. We are too stubborn to realize that we don’t know it all, and that God is the only one capable of seeing the bigger picture of the universe.
Now although I don’t think that humans can bring peace between religions, I do think that we can take steps toward peace (even if they are baby steps) by often asking ourselves WWJD? and by working, in our little corner of the universe, to love those around us.
This is exactly how I feel 😉

Yes, we need laws, but no one set of laws can ever be adequate for all people in all times. Laws must change as culture changes, and local cultures need to have laws suited to their local needs. That’s why the religions that hope to generate a universal culture of their idea of “God” will never succeed without some desperate sort of oppression.

Has basic human needs and desires, whether individually or socially, changed one iota since the days of Moses (pbuh) when the divine laws were revealed to him?

Has the Creator changed His mind since then about the necessity of the laws that He has sent down and commanded His creations to follow?

Has the conditions in either Heaven or Hell changed in any way since the time when they were first created by the Creator?

If the answer is ‘NO’ to all of the 3 questions above, then why have Christians and Jews accorded themselves the privilege of not needing to follow all of the the laws and commandments that their Creator has sent down to them and which are written in their own Bible?

Again, I ask this question – What laws would Jesus (pbuh) be using to rule over humanity when he returns?

**Has basic human needs and desires, whether individually or socially, changed one iota since the days **of Moses (pbuh) when the divine laws were revealed to him?

Well, the Ten Commandments that actually have to do with morality are pretty general, and do apply broadly across cultures. But most of the mosaic law is just foolish. Do you really mean that we must not mix wool and linen in one garment, or eat shellfish? Even the folk of Jesus’ time recognized that it was time for the law to change.

When humans learn to prevent conception, to fly in the air, to communicate over vast distances, to kill at a distance, to prevent death in many cases and even to bring folks back from the brink of death, I really think that means we need different laws from those of a bronze-age cattle culture.

Has the Creator changed His mind since then about the necessity of the laws that He has sent down and commanded His creations to follow?

Apparently Saint Peter thought so.

Has the conditions in either Heaven or Hell changed in any way since the time when they were first created by the Creator?

Hard to say. Did Christ change conditions when he preached in hell? In any case, I don’t live in the Christian theological universe, so that’s not very relevant to my thinking.

The point is that no religion stays the same forever, and there should be recognition that no one system can ever be sufficient for all people.

The Creator has given His creations freedom of choice in what to believe…

I choose to believe that the Creator of the Universe is All-Knowing of past, present and future events and this means that it is totally illogical to think that the Creator can change His mind about anything and everything.

And as an example, if Christians believe that God allowed His son to be crucified in order to atone for the sins of humankind, then what is there to stop Him from changing His mind about this?

For anyone to believe that the Creator can change His mind would mean that there is little reason to follow any religion at all, is there?

Or is it this what you are driving at i.e. an irreligious world??

Just as you have the right to choose what to believe, so do other people! You don’t have the right to impose your views on others.

What the heck are you driving at here? Didn’t Allah allow alcoholic drinks and then forbade them? Your Allah seemed to change his will whenever Muhammad wanted something.

Didn’t Allah at first command that Muslims should pray 50 times a day? Which is utterly ridiculous to begin with. That would only be compatible with robots who don’t have to work, eat, drink or do anything else! And didn’t Muhammad save the day, by talking Allah into changing his illogical ways, and reducing prayer times to 5 times a day?
