christianity wasnt originaly, hate to break it to you…
Right, because Christians don’t explicitly teach that their religion grew out of Judaism. Or anything. You know.

But historically, religions have also kept the rich from feeding the poor to eels, so, really, a good time had by all.

How can they be different? Catholism is the original Christianity.
My understanding is that Catholicism is in the lineage to other forms of Christianity

But that it wasn’t the only form of Christianity. There were people that followed other forms that were suppressed in one way or another.

Christianity is defined as
Catholic Encyclopedia:
Christianity is the name given to that definite system of religious belief and practice which was taught by Jesus Christ in the country of Palestine, during the reign of the Roman Emperor, Tiberius, and was promulgated, after its Founder’s death, for the acceptance of the whole world, by certain chosen men among His followers.
The Church that Jesus Christ founded (Christian) is the Catholic Church. History attests to this fact.

Catholism is the original Christian religion. All others are poor (in varying degrees) copies.

Actually, those ideologies didn’t evolve to their own form of “Christianity” until the 2nd-4th centuries (depending on the specific movement), well after most Catholic/Orthodox doctrines had become well-established. The earliest Gnosticism could have adopted a Christian or Pseudo-Christian outlook is c. 90 AD, after at least 3 of the Canonical Gospels, all of Paul’s work, and almost all the rest of the NT Canon.

Yeah because “Holy Wars” didn’t involve killing others… haha please
All examples of which either involve:
  1. Ulterior motivations
  2. Misinterpretations
  3. Both of the above
I challenge you to give me an example of a mass killing or war where religion was named a direct motivation and both of the other options have been ruled out.

Witch hunts? Or are these “misinterpretations” lol

I would argue with you that Catholism is the first misinterpretations of Jesus’ teachings. I am not saying Jesus didn’t exist or that his miracles were fake, or even that his death and resurrection were fake. Nothing of the sort, I leave it all up to faith. However, my issue is with the writers, or the men educated enough to write poetically the individual parts of the NT.

While that IS religion’s fault (to an extent), there were hardly enough people killed for it to be called a “mass killing” or “genocide”.

2 Questions:
  1. What evidence do you have for have for this claim
  2. If Catholicism was the first misrepresentation of Jesus’ teaching, what is the first ACCURATE interpretation of Jesus’ teaching, and why didn’t it exist until the 2nd century (at earliest) or the late 1800’s (at latest, depending on the movement you view as “accurate”).

I am not talking about the Salem witch trials, I am talking about Medieval times, when it is estimated that 35,000 to 60,000 people were killed all across Europe. Is that enough for you to be defined as “mass killing?”

Just remember, I am neither right or wrong. I simply am telling you my own personal beliefs which I have come to through meditation and other tools which help us go beyond this physical realm. My beliefs contain much of the Dalai Llama’s teachings (excluding Bible beliefs) while including many teachings of Jesus. Do not take my posts as insults or anything along those lines, they simply are my beliefs.
  1. What evidence do you have for have for this claim
None. I believe the Bible to be stories that help us understand the evolution and development of human consciousness, which includes new understandings and ideas. It is the only way to explain the difference of the god in the OT and the God in the NT. The NT was brought about by Jesus (a very common name anyway) but it was a revolutionary way of thinking. I believe Jesus, in his years unknown in the Bible (10-30 or whatever it was) learned from mystery schools (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hermeticism#Classical_elements) in Egypt, the same schools which influenced and can be seen in the writings of Plato; a very idealistic philosopher.

Most likely beliefs similar to en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ebionites#Jesus. I say this because I do believe Jesus was real, and even his miracles could have been actual events, but I refuse to believe he passed the Church onto one single individual. There is way too much influence by Rome for me to believe in Catholicism.

Well, yes (although it is worth noting that does not represent the majority). Still nothing compared to the amounts of killings by purely secular governments. I was hoping you could provide least a million deaths but as a mass killing is defined as 4 or more over a short time, I’ll take 60k.
