The proportion of Hindus in India dropped for the first time since independence as the percentage of Muslims in the population rose, newly-released census data on religion show.
In the 2011 census, the most-recently conducted, 79.79% of India’s 1.2 billion people identified themselves Hindu, down from 80.46% in 2001.
Over the same time period, the proportion of Muslims grew to 14.23% from 13.42%.

Those numbers are so small, it’s irrelevant and probably within the margins of error.
