Religion of peace? I think not.

I can’t believe that the moderate Muslims are not speaking out against the over-reaction to Pope B16’s statements. I just watched a TV debate with the head of a Muslim organization and a Protestant columnist. They both deplored what the Pope said but that’s where their agreement ended because the Muslim man said that the violence is justified because “victims” have a right to defend themselves. This is craziness. How can the world stand back and keep saying this is a peaceful religion? I just don’t get it:( .
Because that would make them as bad as the infidels, and they would probably be beheaded.

To be honest, I think that the Muslims who stand for peace are scared. They don’t want to be killed for disagreeing with the big guys.
I know what you mean but-

Muslims who “stand for” peace

dont you have to take a stand to stand for something ???

They could march for peace in Western countries where such rights are protected, but they don’t. That speaks volumes. They don’t run anything like the risk that Christians endure daily in Islamic countries.

Well, the so called Religion of Peace has now called for the execution of the Pope. Tens of thousands are in the streets in protest where they are hanging make shift Popes, setting fire to churches and have already killed a nun that they shot in the back like cowards.

So where are the outraged “moderate muslims”?

I think that it is time that we stop this lie that says Islam is peaceful. They want to start another crusade, and they may try and kill a Pope to do it.
The Church has spoken out against those who do violence, allegedly in her name. What I have not seen is any Muslim group speak out against those who want to kill the pope, or even against those who have already killed a nun. I have had enough trying to give Muslims the doubt. They need to PROVE beyond a shadow of a doubt that they are a religion of peace.

The OP did not say that “Islam” means peace. She is implying that Islam claims to be a peaceful religion.

Obviously that’s not the case. The Muslims bash everyone who is not Muslim, but Christians, Jews, etc. are not killing Muslims in the name of their respective religions.
I know.

God bless,
Jon

Does anyone know how many human beings have died as a direct result of “radical” terrorists?

True. No one suffers more at the hands of Muslims than other Muslims.
I think this as well.

What a sober observation. Although…I can’t help by feel bad for these guys. If they were to do what you and I both wish for them to do, they would probably face being condemned and sentenced to death. I would be terrified if I were such a Muslim, especially since I would have no understanding of the Christian sense of martyrdom to fuel such a desire.

I agree and disagree.

I think the idea of being willing to die for ones beliefs is universal in nature.

I think they dont stand up for another reason.

I dont think they have true faith in their religion and that is why they are not willing to die to defend it.

Saying Islam is the religion of peace is like saying the French like to fight wars, history is just not on your side!
You’d do well to change your signature. When people accuse the French of being wussies (as I’m wont to do on occasion as well) we do it because they opposed our war in Iraq, not because they have a peaceful history. France, in fact, apart from being a supporter of the United States for a couple centuries, has fought in numerous wars: see en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_French_wars_and_battles .

I can’t say for sure, but I wouldn’t be surprised if the French were involved in more wars than most of other countries in Europe. Don’t you remember Napoleon? 🙂

Just as Father Frank Pavone does with his (and our) war on abortion, he shows abortion in all its graphic glory. He shows unabashedly shows pictures of aborted babies to get to the root of the matter.

This shows what we are talking about:

Thanks for the warning. I feel a bit lighter now that I lost breakfast after that first one…

The difference is, France lost them all.

You know, the thing that is so striking about those pictures is that when innocent Muslims die, the people take the body and put it on display as they run in a rage through the streets shouting and screaming and working everyone up into a frenzy.

Contrast. Look at the sadness yet serenity on the faces of the nuns (in the last link) as the body of Sr. Leonella arrives in Kenya. Which religion do you think is a religion of peace - I mean peace not in the sense of “opposite of violent” - but peace in the sense of “opposite of inner turmoil”?

In fact, consider the atmosphere at Pope John Paul II’s funeral and contrast that to the wild screaming and frenetic scene at Ayatollah Khomeini’s funeral. The ayatollah almost fell out of the casket, people were so out of control.

You know why the new French Navy has glass bottomed boats?

So they can see the old french navy

Saw this on Ebay:

For sale french Army rifle, never been fired , only dropped once.

It was those kinds of pics that changed my view of Islam from one of theological disagreement to total opposition. They should be put on TV everytime Abu Gharaib comes up. Everytime!

An example of a religion of peace was seen when Pope John Paul II forgave the man who shot him.
