You are grossly wrong. I know the truth about my faith. But you have no possible way to know the truth about your faith , if any. What guidance can atheism offer you in living your life morally? Which atheist can tell you what is the meaning of life and how to live it? They themselves are not better than you to tell you what is the proper moral code. Or do you blindly believe that it is all science and we are just soul-less carbon life forms waiting to die and rot and that is the end of your story? Dancing to your DNA as one of them put it.We cannot simply resist the revealed truth and stay in state of ignorance. You say I am in state of ignorance and I say that you too. We simply don’t know the truth.
There are a 1.2 billion Catholics, believing the same faith despite the many many cultures of people in it. You focus on the diversity again. Atheism is also listed as one of the religions in there. Have you gone through the list of 4300 religions and obtained sufficient knowledge for yourself to determine that out of the 4300 religions there, atheism is true? If not, you shouldn’t adopt atheism yet because you would be unsure. There are about 4,300 religions worldwide.
If you are humble enough and seek him sincerely, he will reveal himself to you. No force is needed and I never mentioned use of force. No one is qualified to demand anything from God, especially those that don’t even believe in His existence. He owes no one.No, there is no need for force. I just need that God show Himself to me and show me the truth. I am not asking for much.
Get that knowledge. Many have gotten it. Just quit whining and expect spoon feeding. You have the free will and I presume ability to gather that knowledge. Staying put with folded arms and demanding knowledge to fill your head without much effort isn’t going to get you very far.We cannot have the knowledge about something hidden from us.
GO and find out. The journey starts with a first step. What is the truth?
You have no basis, knowledge and no authority to judge that the Christian attitude is incorrect. Firstly, your knowledge is flawed. Secondly, I didn’t say that the verse quoted will definitely get an atheist to hell. It is a possibility. That is all I can say. Which isn’t saying much because there is a possibility that a Christian can go to hell too. Any of us can fall anytime. I myself have fallen countless time and if I were to die during those times, I could possibility find myself in a place I don’t want to be. Unless we persist in our faith, hell is always a possibility. Catholicism can never, I repeat, never, identify anyone to hell. To heaven , yes. Hell no. You may have erroneously jumped to that conclusion.I am not talking about the fact that atheist are allowed to go to Heaven based in the Christian belief. I am saying that the Christian attitude toward atheist is incorrect hence your faith cannot be true. Why? Because we simply don’t know the truth.
Wonderful.I will try to open another thread on the related topic if when I have time.
You may not be, but I am sure. But having said that, since you are not sure, you wouldn’t want to take up atheism would you? You could be wrong and end up at the wrong place with eternity to ponder why you would take such a silly gamble. And I presume you haven’t gone through your list of 4300 religions to determine which one is your best bet. That I agree. But the same apply to a believer: You can never be sure that there is a God. You can never be sure that there is Heaven/Hell either. You can never be sure that there is afterlife.
With this, I think I have shared with you sufficiently for you to think carefully what your future steps could be. The first thing an ignorant man should do is to admit that he doesn’t know. The second thing, the responsible man ought to obtain for himself the knowledge that he is aware of not knowing. Only then, can you make a thoughtful, studied decision. If you have any questions about the Catholic faith, post your questions here. There are smarter folks here who could provide better answers than I. I am nobody and frequently clueless about many other topics. So see you around! Last word: Seek and you will find. This is a promise from God.
You may find this piece by Peter Kreeft useful as a starting point. Give him a listen
