CONGRATULATIONS VERY REVEREND MOTHER MARIA CORAZON D. AGDA, RVM–NEWLY ELECTED SUPERIOR GENERAL !
The 20th General Chapter of the Congregation of the Religious of the Virgin Mary founded by Venerable Mother Ignacia del Espiritu Santo in 1684 officially started on April 07 May 2016. As one of the significant events of the RVM Congregation, the participants of the activity composed of delegates elected by the general membership and ex-officio members. On their shoulders is the tremendous responsibility of discussing, deliberating and discerning on the operations of the Congregation from 2016 to 2021.
Like any other assembly the fifty-three delegates worked as a body with the same goals to achieve. So important was this undertaking that they need the guidance and direction of the Holy Spirit in a special way. A Triduum of silence and prayer ushered them into the General Chapter proper.
As they started their work on 7 April 2016, their initial exercise was the election of the Superior General and the members of her Council. Results of the election are as follows: Very Reverend Mother Maria Corazon Agda, RVM—Superior General; Sister Maria Rosalia Nacionales, RVM—Vicar General/First Consultor; Sister Maria Anicia Co, RVM—Second Consultor; Sister Maria Marissa Viri, RVM—Third Consultor; and Sister Maria Gilda Penafiel, RVM —Fourth Consultor.
Thanksgiving/ Installation Rite
His Excellency Most. Reverend Reynaldo Evangelista, DD, Bishop of the Diocese of Imus, Cavite, will be the Mass Presider and Homilist in the Eucharistic Celebration on April 13, 2016, 9:00 a.m. at Betania Retreat House, Tagaytay City, Philippines. He will also lead the installation Rite for our newly-elected Congregational Servant Leaders and the newly-appointed Regional Superiors of Luzon, Visayas, Northern Mindanao and the District Superiors of Italy, USA-Canada, Ghana, West Africa and Indonesia.
May the fruits derived from the 20th Ordinary General Chapter bring about the Congregation’s growth and renewal so that what was started by Mother Ignacia may continue to live on in every RVM Sister for the greater glory and service of God and the good of the Church and the people. Praise God !
