Peace be unto you and yours,
I am no scholar so am of little value to this world.

I cant quote for you but testify i have read with my eyes a translation of the Quran that states there is no compulsion in religion.

In the bible i have read the first beings disobeyed God and were still blessed by Him.

In both, my own interpretation is that while there is no compulsion there are consequences for our choices.

May God guide us all as so He wills
👍

Still, no matter what, 2 and 2 will ALWAYS make 4! No matter what! Nobody can make it be otherwise.
Well, in mod 3 arithmetic, where you count as
1,2,10,11,12,20,21,…etc., it will be different. It turns out that in this type of arithmetic system, 2+2=11.

"No religion is an island: there is no monopoly on holiness. We are companions of all who revere Him.
I agree…
]We rejoice when His name is praised. No religion is an island: we share the kinship of humanity, the capacity for compassion.
I agree with this…
The hand of God is extended to all who seek Him. He is near to all who call upon Him in truth. God’s spirit rests upon all, Jew or Gentile, man or woman, in consonance with their deeds.
And this…
We are diverse in our devotion and commitment. We must unite in working now for the kingship of God. He is near to all who call on Him in truth. There can be disagreement without disrespect. Let us help one another overcome hardness of heart, opening minds to the challenges of faith.
I have no problem with this…
Let us not be guided by ignorance or disdain.
Hmm…
But wouldn’t that disqualify us from Posting here on the forums?? 😃

I agree with everything, but there is one problem…

When truth is sacrificed for the sake of “ecumenism”… well, that is not acceptable… or good. It is the truth that will set you free (knowing the truth, tht is)…

The truth is that Christ established ONE Church… and there is only ONE truth… God is not the author of confusion and God does not change…

I am for what you say.

I agree that we should never sacrifice the truth for any reason.

There are people that are not ready for the message, we spend time preparing them to be open to the truth.

This does not mean we say they are right when they are wrong.

God is truth always.

i have read some more posts and am now quite confused.
If you believe that the greater good will be served then i guess you maybe justified in killing.

David (PBWH) slew galioth and he was in right relationship with God.

But i beg you now read Jesus (PBWH) and legion, this is in right relationship with God and is FOR ME a better way.

If after much reflection on what i offer, much prayer to GOD ALONE no picking your own intercessors, you are guided killing is the only way to bring about the greater good. May God have mercy on you.

PS SERIOUSLY ARE YOU IN THE RIGHT RELIGION???
It was a metaphore, nothing more! 😉

I don’t believe that you need to sacrifice truth in order to incorporate tolerance of other religions into one’s faith. Can you not be a Christian and at the same time acknowledge that muslims and jews are seeking holiness in their lives and a better apprehension of God?

I am not saying we need to be intolerant in order not to sacrifice truth… I am saying tht in attempting to get along with those of other faiths, we should never compromise truth… Some people do that in order to get along… I say we can (if careful) get along AND hold onto truth & share our truth… which is very important. The Church teaches t hat if we don’t evangelize, we are endangering our souls… (something to tht effect)…
I have lost many relationships over standing up for the Catholic faith… telling people (only telling them, not shoving it down their throats) about Catholic beliefs… There must be some truth to it (for them) because, otherwise, why would they persecute me as they do??
Anyway… I just get so tired of hearing something to the effect that it doesn’t matter what religion you are… Maybe Catholics use that as an excuse NOT to evangelize…

I have so many times been inspired to go tell the truth to specific people.
Thanks be to God it has always had a peaceful outcome.
But after in prayer i have said to Him why bother me to speak messages I cant do it, they dont change.
It was inspired in me that I was only to deliver the message what people do with it is not my concern, this gives me peace and allows me to have many people in my life.

This tell em is all i ask of you i have since read in Bible and Quran.

If we dont share the truth as we know it and be open to being corrected what faith do we have?

Just dead hear say.

Faith is alive growing and changing, FOR ME no one can give it to you, you have to seek it, not label it.

That is good. Truth should not be sacrificed to compromise. But please remember that you invite others to your religion with peace and patience and truth from your book (not from. yourself). The truth that you present should be explicit from your book. It should not happen that your book be quiet on a subject and you invent the answers yourself. That will not be truth. Otherwise you are welcome to present your views.

**That is good. You have every right to believe what you like and to preach it peacefully to others. And you should admit the right of others in the same way.

It is bad that some people start hating you for your beliefs. That is bad of them. You do not worry about them. Leave them alone and get on with some other fellows and make new friends. Or, else, please consider and reflect sensibly on your beliefs, your teachings**.

** Perhaps you are right. People are careless. They do not care about what religion they are. That is a bad idea. But it could be a some waht good idea too to let people live their life. It is necessary to be paceful.**

**Just a few comments. That is the best way, as you have described above. It is our duty to convey the message of (whatever) our religion peacefully and leave the rest to the Creatot God of all things. Our duty then is finished. Very good work S J.

That is the teaching mentione din the Quran. It said about the prophet Muhammad exactly like that and it told him that he was not an in-charge (commander) over the people.**

Thanks for the good advice. It is necessary to share the truth.

Seems to me that peace, love, and yes tolerance were crucial teachings of the Moralist of Galilee. So second-guessing is just a bunch of emotional steam, and that;s what your Confessional’s for, yes?

I speak as an outsider, but I do feel compassion and even commiseration with even conservative Catholics. Golden rule, guys; do unto they neighbors (others) and you would be done by. I’m not Christian or even Abrahamic, but even I get that one pretty darn well, if I say so myself, even if I have a bit of a snide twist here and there - I mean no harm, just that I find a little humor and plain-spokenness to help more than harm.
Just my two sen.

Not sure. He said a lot of things.
you are so right he sure did and we are blessed to share them.

If i remeber right
no 1 was about loving God and
2 was resembling it and was to love neighbor as ones self.

So i can see where you are coming from but the golden rule would be no1.

I guess no1 is about the heart and 2 is about the action.

You remember well. Here is what Jesus said when he was asked about the first. Jesus replies by using words from the Shema, and then second the neighbor.

*Mark 12:28 One of the scribes, when he came forward and heard them disputing and saw how well he had answered them, asked him, “Which is the first of all the commandments?” 29 Jesus replied, “The first is this: ‘Hear, O Israel! The Lord our God is Lord alone! 30 You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ 31 The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”

*Where I live, there is something called the Golden Rule, which is similar to the second one that Jesus mentions. The Golden rule is often stated as “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” I do not know why it is called the Golden Rule. There are other statements of the Golden Rule, perhaps from the holy books of different cultures. A statement of the Golden Rule can be found in the bible in Luke 6:31.

Well, in THIS type of arithmetic system, in that sequence, it will ALWAYS make 11, won’t it?
However, in our daily lives, we won’t count in base 3 (3 becoming 10 then) like here, we count in base 10!

If one tries to use the old math thing of 1+1=2 ect to prove truth of religion one loses it.

50+50=100 and it contains lots more for maths folk 5 groups of 20 its only half of 200 ect.

For me in religous truth there can be a stack of messages in one.

a two edge sword can slice and dice, is truth that cuts both ways and so forth.

when you all post what you see in scripture and religion i learn stacks.

Thanks be to God for you all being in my life, well my pc at least.

Love yas
