Remarriage in a Catholic Church

Hi,

I am a divorcee and I am Catholic, I was never married in the Catholic Church, and would like to know if I can get married in the Church without an annulment. My fiance is Catholic as well, but a widow.

Only if your ex is deceased.

However, I am told that an investigation into an attempt at marriage defective in form is an administrative process, rather than judicial.

As tee says, if you were a Catholic at the time of your previous marriage and the marriage was not in the Catholic Church, or with permission to marry elsewhere, it is Defect of Form. This is fairly easy and quick to establish. You will need proof that you were Catholic, your divorce papers, and some witnesses that the marriage was never convalidated. Check with your priest as to the exact details on that.

Your priest can handle the paperwork. In most dioceses it must be reviewed by the Tribunal to make sure the i’s are dotted and the *t’s *crossed. It usually takes a month or so.
 
I wouldn’t think you would, since us Catholics are taught that a real marriage is in the church. Well looks like it’s sometihng you’d have to speak with the Priest about any way.
