Remarried in the Catholic Church

My wife and I were married Justice of the Peace 6 years ago. We were re married in the Catholic Church 1 year ago. I was wondering if we still count the previous years as married or from when we were married in the Church.

Wanted to see if I could get some thoughts and answers here. Thank you.đź‘Ť
 
The Catholic Church does not officially count anniversaries… 🙂

You were legally married for six years and you were married in the sight of God and in the eyes of the Church for one year. The length of time you count as being married depends on the context.

If you are wondering how to answer the question, “How long were you married?” then you can just say what you said here… that you were married civilly for x number of years and that you had the marriage convalidated x-6 years ago. It will be up to you and your spouse to decide who gets how much information.
