Remembering readings?

Does it ever happen for some of you that remember certain reading you here at mass and the particular day that they are proclaimed. I was just thinking of the reading from Samuel about David observing the woman bathing and wondered if its this year we hear that reading. Its on a Friday i know. Sometimes I do forget readings, like during the last week I wasn’t able to remember what the Gospel reading for the 3rd Sunday of Lent was for Year C.

Not really. Today was something I could remember (Jesus changing water into wine at the wedding feast in Cana) and throughout the Christmas season I could remember. Like, the Epiphany Gospel (Magi bear gifts to Jesus), Baptism of the Lord Gospel (“This is my beloved son, listen to him.”) But, in Ordinary Time, I really can’t remember the readings for Mass on Sunday. Any time I can’t remember the First or Second. I always remember the Gospel though. Lent is another time, sometimes I can remember it, sometimes I can’t. I remember the Year A reading for Lent - those are my favorite for that cycle. Easter depends, because some are different every year. Obviously, the Second Sunday of Easter or Divine Mercy Sunday I can remember, and the Fourth Sunday of Easter I can remember.

Wow, that’s a very impressive memory you have. It is this year, year 2. It’s not this
coming Friday, but the next Friday. I don’t know anything without my daily roman
missal, and I am impressed by people who already know what’s coming.
