Please Post Correctly.
It’s happening again. Please remember the following.
It’s happening again. Please remember the following.
*]Post only what is related to Catholic tradition and Catholic customs; this includes parts of Church history, historical events, historical writings, hagiography, law and of course the Extraordinary Form of the mass.
*]Do not post about scandals. He who passes on scandal is as guilty as he who causes the scandal. St. Augustine once said that he who is scandalized is also culpable of the scandal. Just don’t post on it.
*]Refrain from passing gossip. Negative information that other people need not know about is gossip. It is a very old Catholic tradition to follow the teachings of the Holy Father, especially when he speaks on sin. Please read what Pope Francis has to say on gossip. If you don’t want to comply with the Holy Father, you have no business on this forum. CAF has other forums.
*]Many posters have already said this; but I will repeat it. If a priest or religious does something that you believe is wrong, speak to him or her about it. If you can’t speak to him or her, speak to his or her immediate superior. Bishops and religious superiors have too much on their plate to waste time reading complaints on online forums. If you post it here, the person who needs to know will never find out.
*]You may disagree, but you may not be disagreeable. Behind the text that you’re reading is a real human being, not a machine. You may not respond to him or her in any way that is rude. Think of it this way. Never respond to another person in a way that can earn you a punch in the nose, if you were physically present. One of the brothers who used to post here taught me that one. I thought it was good advice.
