Reminiscing about sinful acts?

Hanging out with my friends last night, we were all reminiscing about the sinful (drunken, lascivious, etc) escapades of our youth. How should we act about this kind of thing? Anyone thought about this before?

On one hand, I don’t think it’s right to take pleasure in the memories, but on the other, I doubt the proper response when someone brings up “Remember that one time we…” to say “Well, that was before I found Christ, and I’d rather not entertain such thoughts now.”

you’re listed as catholic. whats the big deal when you just have to say a few hail mary’s and your forgiven. i’d say live it up.

I’m in the same boat you are, but I take a different approach. When I talk about the days when I was sort or reckless, I always say, “Yeah, we where all young and crazy one time. I did my share of stupid things.”

I don’t look back and beat myself up over it-we all make mistakes, but I don’t look back and say, “Wish I could do that again.”

Take a deep breath and realize that boys will be boys. Don’t put on the moral cap and say, “I’m sorry, I’m now better than that.” Just roll with the flow.

This beautiful quote bears repeating:

“Every saint has a past and every sinner has a future.”

We all perhaps had been “wayward” at some point in the past but the remarkable thing about our faith is that we have a God who is more than willing to forget what we’ve done and guide us to true Life.

You don’t have to bring Christ into it - you can make comments like ‘wow, we’re SO lucky we didn’t get arrested/drown in our own vomit/die in a drunken car crash/catch every STD under the sun … what on earth were we thinking?’ or something.
