Hey everyone,

sometimes, i look at the past and what i’ve done and what ive thought back then :(:(, and the thoughts come up, and i wonder how stupid could i have been, Is this a mortal sin??

Yes i am, its just i feel like im condemed to hell (like right now, and because ive had these thoughts i think they are a mortal sin,) But i want to be a Priest, so quite a predicament huh? I was just asking, yes i have a wonderful Priest who is my confessor/spiritual director. Its just that im joyful, but im kind of torn inside on what i’ve done too! any (name removed by moderator)ut???

Yes, my (name removed by moderator)ut is to talk to your spiritual director about these thoughts of yours.

Bishop Sheen wrote a book called Peace Of Soul.

The basic idea is that we should settle things with God through confession and then we start over with a clean slate.

Bishop Sheen warns that guilt is our worst enemy. Get rid of guilt. Make peace with God. It doesn’t matter what you’ve done. God always wants you back.

In another book, Sheen warns about living in sin too long. Our psychology is such that eventually we lose hope of forgiveness, wrongly thinking that we’ve done too much to be forgiven. He quotes an ancient pagan Roman writer: “Look on at virtue and pine for it, for now it is beyond your reach.”

i have been to confession on saturday, (i love to go every week!!)

If you were thinking about your past sins and saying ‘wasn’t that all great, I feel like I wanna do it all over again’ Now THAT would be wrong.

I can’t see what you did as being sinful, although it’s not necessarily very helpful.

St Paul at one stage calls himself ‘the worst of all sinners’ and laments about the fact that he often does what he doesn’t wish to, and doesn’t do things he knows he should. So it sounds like you’re in good company at least.

Do try to remember that you’ve been forgiven. And that God loves you and is merciful. God’s mercy and love is a gift, not something we deserve or earn by being sufficiently sorrowful - or sufficiently good. Because we can never be sufficiently sorrowful to earn his mercy, nor sufficiently good to earn His love.

If you inherited a million dollars from some long-lost relative, would you waste a second lamenting about the fact that you didn’t deserve it? Or would you simply say ‘thankyou God’ and try to put that money to some good use? Focus on doing the same with the gifts such as mercy and love that God gives you.

All the devil ever wants is to convince good men they’re not worth of the Priesthood.

Don’t believe the lies that the Lord’s grace is not sufficient to overcome any human obstacle
