Repentance, Reconciliation,Redemption,Remission

These are the 4R’s that a priest taught me when I became Catholic and was confirmed at a Benedictine monastary inland from Oceanside, California. I was young and I had some things that needed to get repented. I learned to read ,write and do arithmetic from the Bible when I was about 2 and 1/2 years old, and at 50years old I have a Faith in God that is as solid as a rock. I have seen miracles and have purified myself of any doubtin God. At this monastary I only had one question for the monks and nuns and the priest who guided me to my confirmation there as a Catholic. Of course it was the most important queston of them all. What do I have to do to get the Salvation of Jesus Christ? Because? Because I think I’m going to need it!
The priest taught me in the same scriptures that taught me to read, write and do arithmetic when I should have been doing like the other children of my age and, umm, well sucking my thumb or some other such thing. Tried and True, the method works, I know, it worked for me! No, really it did. Quite well as a matter of fact.
Here they are, like the priest taught me so many years ago.
Code:
  Repentance.
It is the definition of repentance that makes the first of these 4 stepd to Salvation really do its job. It’s simple. Once you have it figured out that it’s a sin and you’re doing it , Quit Doing It! Repentance is a fancy word and we hear too much about it sometimes. It refers to a very simple idea, though! How many ways are there to tell your self that you’re doing something that you shouldn’t do, something that is going to hurt you in some way if it isn’t already? Not Enough! Tell yourself to quit, anyway, and then when you know that you are NOT going to do it any more, ever again, Then and only Then have you Repented!!!
After you Repent one sin , then you have to Repent another and another and another, until you get down to the real small stuff and figure that if you repent any more you’ll be the proverbial living saint. And what’s the matter with that anyway? Nothing. All right, gooood!
Code:
  Reconciliation.
Once you have repented and you sin no more the next step is to make up for all the sins you did commit. Little things here and there, you’ll find a way, a way to Salvation, not only because you have to, but because you want to.
To gain the Salvation of the Lord Jesus Christ you have to earn it, you have to work for it, there are no two ways about it. He does NOT hand out Salvation like candy to squealing children! Why would you ever think that he would? Don’t know? Neither do I! It can be no other way, if you want to go on to the next step then you have to accomplish this Reconciliation. Fix the damage you did somehow. Give back more than you took with your transgressions. Do that until you have made up for every sin that you ever sinned and even then, sin no more.
Code:
  Redemption
Redemption is one of those things that just happens . Once it does you know that its been there all along just waitng. Once you have a little Redemption in your life and you know you worked for it, it gets easier and easier to remember that redemption has always been there waiting for you to claim it by the prescribed method.

   Remission
Redemption is as far as you can go on your own, and about as far as anyone gets in this life, and in this World. The remission of any sin, and of all sins is the Salvation that you have earned. The Salvation of Christ Jesus, Lord and Saviour is granted by God and only by God! So do a good job if you use this method of obtaining and attaining to Salvation.
Other than that leave it to God.

I really wish that I could teach the remission of sin from the Bible like that priest showed me. It’s been much too long and, you know, I never did write it down. Shame on me! I have passed it along to others, though, all of my life.

The reason that I am posting it here for discussion is to know that this teaching is still used and hasn’t fallen out of favor!

So if you have anything to say about Salvation, say it here I’d like to know. I’d like to hear what you have to say!

Thank you and many blessings to you all!:crossrc:
