I was wondering where I might find the guidelines stating when the Blessed Sacrament is to be removed, like if you were having a concert inside the church. Thanks

It is written we found it 10 years ago. However even in a practical sense. Are the people really going to be arriving and departing in a reverent manner while the Blessed Sacrament is present in the taberncale. Some don’t even do this at Sunday Mass. Do you really think they will quietly file in and out in silence for a concert?

There is a retreat center in our diocese. We have different religions come in and use the chapel. The only thing that makes the chapel catholic is the Blessed Sacrament in the tablernacle. I thought that there were certain rules in place that would require the removal of the Blesses Sacrament when someone who was using the chapel was not Catholic.

You guys just pushed all my buttons. Our Catholic school had a children Chritmas concert in the church. We arrived a few minutes before starting and the place was a zoo. I guess I was probably one of the very few that blessed themselves and genuflected, It was louder than a fish market. The teachers that were present did not do anything about it. I was so mad. People suddenly became quite when the kids started singing, and as soon as it was done the noise was disgusting.

People were on the altar trying to have pictures in front of the tabernacle, leaning on the elbow just next to the tabernacle. I was tempted to run for one of the microphones and yell at everybody, but I could not move because the crowd was rushing out like they would have done if the building was on fire. I understand that we have non catholic families attending the school, but what about the people that are in line on Sunday to receive Communion?

I did not contact our pastor before Christmas because he was alredy stressed with other things, but now that you reminded me I will send him a note.

Typically in our parish, the Blessed Sacrament is reposed to a small chapel in the Rectory anytime something takes place in the Church that is not liturgical and may draw a large crowd.
School presentations, lectures, graduation practice, etc. come to mind.

Tabernacle door is left wide open (to show that it’s empty) and the sanctuary lamp is extinguished.

At least then, all the yappin’ isn’t in the Lord’s Presence.

Well this may be slightly off the topic but our school (avs)
had its christmas concert (our school is multidenomanational) it was supposed to be in the towns catholic church (St.Patricks) but the priest refused as they didnt give them enough notice so it was held in the local protestant church.
during the pratice a few members of the school band started to play Sunday Bloody Sunday by U2.
Thank God this type of thing wasent allowed in the Catholic church…
I was discusted but seen as it was not my place to give out rules for the protestant church I didnt open my mouth.
It still saddened me to see this.
