I don’t know if this topic has already been asked or not, but I wanted to know the rule about removing/covering the crucifix during Lent. I was always under the impression that you only cover/remove Christ on Good Friday… I have been a few Catholic Churches this week that have already done this. Am I wrong??

It’s horribly wrong to do so. The Corpus may be covered from the Mass of Holy Thursday to the Saturday Vigil Mass, but that’s it.

Amy, since you are in my part of town, you might consider a nice letter to Bishop DiNardo. I hear he is a stickler for the GIRM.

Where I am currently attending church, the oposite happened. We usually have a small icon-like crucifix near the altar for Mass. By icon-like, I mean it is not 3 dimensional and has considerable background imagery on it besides the corpus. Well, for Lent, that Crucifix is gone and we have a large, more traditional-looking crucifix to the side of the sanctuary. The Crucifix is great but now we have no cross at all in the sanctuary.
