WASHINGTON DC, April 13 (CNA) - United States’ President George W. Bush spoke this morning at the annual National Catholic Prayer Breakfast, at Washington’s Hilton Hotel, telling the crowd of Catholic faithful that the “promise of America” is in need of renewal and that such a renewal will come through a greater respect for human life and an active hand from religious groups.“Our Declaration of Independence states that our freedom rests on self-evident truths about the dignity of the human person,” the president said. “Throughout our nation’s history, Catholic Americans have embraced, sustained, and given their lives to defend these truths.”“Thismorning, we give thanks for the blessings of freedom, and we askAlmighty God to guide us as we renew our founding promise of libertyand justice for all.”“Renewing the promise of America,” Bush said, “begins with upholding the dignity of human life.”

I heard the President’s address on EWTN radio Saturday morning. It was billed as the 4th annual Catholic Prayer Breakfast and just tuning in, it seemed like it had just taken place on Friday, the first Friday after Lent – because President Bush made a friendly joke about being able to enjoy the bacon and sausage…

Anyway, the thought that crossed my mind was, how can we get something like this going all across the nation? Wouldn’t that be terrific? Is there some kind of national organization? (Sorry, I didn’t read the article, so I don’t know if it was mentioned.)

That would be great. I know we have some event like this centered around the Red Mass where they do that in the US.

Still I would like to do this nationwide.

Also it should be noted the Chief Justice was there
