Is it true that the catholic church has a movement that is called Renovation in the Holy Spirit?

A friend told me that this movement is focused on the Holy Spirit . Normally you have to take a course that lasts 3 months. You have to go one day per week and in the final day, the priest with the coordinators, the put their hands in your head, so you can receive the Holy Spirit

My friend told me that many people start to talk in tongues, You can hear people singing on tongues, and others have visions

and this is approved by the vatican

I have searched for it and can’t find anything. If you find out more please let me know. Thanks!

hello, about 30yrs.we lived in omaha,ne.a pentecostal minister lived across the street from us and we became friends. He invited me to a meeting of the full gospel bussinessmens fellowship. My wife and I went and as we intered the auditorium,we could hear singing and praying .I looked around and saw Whites,Blacks and even a few Native Americans praying together and there with them were a few Nuns and Priests, praying “in tongues”.I had never seen this before.I throughly enjoyed myself .Anyway, there is a web site at the Rockford,IL Diocese.the add.is,www.dpsrfd.org.that may help.May God bless You:)

all I know is that this is something the church is doing in mexico

I think what you may be referring to is the “Charismatic Catholic Renewal”. It has been around since the seventies.

Part of this is a “course” entitled “Life in the Spirit” and it is a seven week course. Again I think this is what you are referring to.
You have to go one day per week and in the final day, the priest with the coordinators, the put their hands in your head, so you can receive the Holy Spirit
Here is where you must be very careful for diverse reasons;

  1. ]Only an Ordained minister has the power to “lay hands on you” and give you the gift of the Holy Spirit. This is not something a “coordinator” can do!
    ]Are you Baptised? If so,
you already have the Holy Spirit** living in you! You have no need of "receiving something or someone you already have!
*]Are you Confirmed? If so, you have already had the Bishop lay his hand upon you and (by the power that comes from Aapostolic Suscession) give you the anointing of the Holy Spirit! Not that the Holy Spirit was not already within by virtue of your baptism, but the anointing gave you the power to better use the gifts that come with having the Holy Spirit living in your soul.
*]If any one, lay-person, Deacon, Priest, or Bishop, denies you have the Holy Spirit after being informed of your bapism, run as far away from him or her as you can for they are not from God;rather, they proceed from the father of all lies!
*]If any one, lay-person, Deacon, Priest, or Bishop, tells you that you need the laying on of hands to receive the gifts of the Holy Spirt after knowing that you have received Confirmation, same as #4-run as far away from him or her as you can for they are not from God;rather, they proceed from the father of all lies!
That said, the Life in the Spirit Seminar can be powerful and life changing in many positive ways, if taught by some one who is careful to always remain faithful to all that the Church teaches regarding this “life in the Spirit” and does nothing to deny, in any way, the Divine Gift of the Holy Spirit that God grant to you through the Sacraments of Initiation, Baptism, Confirmation, and first Holy Communion. I went and got alot of great positive out of it…

This can be very exciting, and novel to many, and rightfully so. Be careful, however, and remember that you are opening up your soul to be infuenced by outside forces. Make sure those forces are of God. As for tongues, I think that to get a proper perspective you may want to read 1Corinthians 14 very carefully.

Be carefull with “blanket statements”. While the Vatican wants all Catholic to live a “Spirit filled” life and approves and promotes many ways to achieve this, there can still be, within the structure of the seminar, those who teach heresy and ecourage practices dangerous to your soul: not that they all do this or even that any leading the group you go to will. Just be careful, know what the Church teaches, and keep your eyes and ears open (normal advice no matter what “class” you were to take anywhere).

I never heard of the term used by OP
If you are speaking of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal, there is already an on-going thread with this discussion. link posted does not work.
